Z-Wave Aotec On / Off current sensing switch - ISY can't detect manual "ON" ??

Featured Replies

I have a program that is set to do something when ISY detects my Aeotec Zwave on / off current sensing switch being turned on at the switch itself.

The program reads "If device CONTROL is SWITCHED "ON" then...."

But other programs that turn on the switch also trigger this - there seems to be no distinction between actually pressing the button on the switch and the ISY turning it on otherwise. It seems to work just like "Status", but my syntax is "Control".

Is there any way to rectify this, or am I misunderstanding something here?

Thanks for any help.

This is a Z-Wave device and therefore it's a "Status" change.  There's no "Control" function in the ISY currently for Z-Wave devices (that I'm aware of).  The ISY Z-Wave stack does not differentiate like it does with Insteon.  Is this possible?  Yes just not with the ISY currently.

Good to know - was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my pretty simple program wasn't working.

Thanks for answering. Much appreciated.

@simplextech I's strange but I found that some Z-Wave devices support "Control" construct in ISY programs. i.e. Aeontech Multisensor 6 does but most do not.

I don't know how to identify which devices support Control other than to just try this construct in a program and see if the device is in the pull-down list for "Control."

I haven't verified if these are truly processed as Control events to allow re-triggering within ISY.

Once in awhile I have noticed that when I open the Admin console and view one of these programs, the "Multisensor Six is switched on" program line has become "Unsupported ruleset." If I reopen the Admin Console, the program is back to normal. This seems to be an Admin Console issue as the sensors continue to work triggering programs.

Being a sensor I think the ISY just lumps any change into either bucket.  Or perhaps handles it correctly.  Again this is something for UD to verify if they support the "physical" change construct of Z-Wave devices and whether the ISY programs are handling it correctly.  I know the physical change ie "Control" is possible and is supported within the Z-Wave Command Classes.  Just does ISY fully support it or not I don't know 100%
