phil_knutson Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Newbie -- got ISY, scenes, triggers, all working -- but when I added Keypadlinc the only device I see is the main load device. I want to drop a button into a scene as a controller, but I cannot find the A-D button nodes listed anywhere. If I select KPL in the device list, I see the option of mutually exclusive buttons -- I select 4, but again I see nothing change. I have the scenes ready to go, just want to drop the 4 buttons in (mutually exclusive) and I am done. I see the ISY does identify it as a KPL 6-button. Searched the forum, nothing similar. thoughts or ideas?
Sub-Routine Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hi Phil, Please delete the KPL from the ISY and add it back using the address and New Insteon Device while selecting the Device Type from the drop down instead of using Auto Discover. Can you please tell me the version number of the KPL? Rand Newbie -- got ISY, scenes, triggers, all working -- but when I added Keypadlinc the only device I see is the main load device. grover_chris Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Thank you very much Sub-Routine, I've been looking for that answer for several days, guess I just should have posted.
phil_knutson Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Interesting. When I added KPL via 'start linking', it correctly identified the device as a KPL, 6 button, V.36, but the button nodes were not added. As recommended, I removed the device from my lighting, then chose add new insteon device, entered the address, and selected the KPL from the drop-down list. I noticed there was only a KPL and KPL-8-button (no 6-button), so I chose KPL. Indeed, it added the load device and added 4 button nodes! Now when I click on the KPL in my lighting, is shows as KPL (does nto say 6-button), and V.00. So, it worked, but feels like a bit of a bug in there somewhere. Both the ISY and the KPL are brand new from Smarthome. I have an Insteon/X10 mix and am finally tossing my X10 controller in favor of an Insteon controller. The ISY came with 2.7.0, so I updated it to 2.7.6 as noted in the forum. Also, now when I click on the KPL from my lighting, and click on mutually exclusive buttons, it now shows first a list -- the KPL and 4 button nodes. This is followed by 2 lines -- mutually exclusive buttons 1 and mutually exclusive buttons 2. It used to have 1,2,3,4. I have tried clicking on these but see no defined change in action. So, I have done the action in programming instead. I created 4 scenes with the desired result of pressing KPL A, B, C, and D (I want all to me mutually exclusive). I also created 4 scenes made up of the 3 buttons I want to turn off if the other goes on. Then, I created 4 programs -- for example, if button A goes on, set sceneA action on, and, set scene_button_B,C,D off. This way the LEDs turn off, leaving the one on for the scene I have assigned -- repeat for the others. A bit of an effort there but it works well. Thanks so much for the pointer to get this all going!
Sub-Routine Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Hi Phil, Yes, I think something must have changed in the new keypads. As for MutEx buttons you should be able to drag and drop the buttons into the group(s). There are 2 groups for 6-button KPLs and 4 groups for 8 button KPLs. Rand
