Updating my system

I have had my system running strong for about 6-7 years. Recently, I have a need to add a device to the network. I've installed the newest version of Java and installed the admin council. I am getting stuck at the point of trying to add the Isy to the launcher. I believe my isy is connected to the network for the following reasons: I can control devices via the Isy Portal and I can control my devices the connection to my Echo. When I look for my Isy on the router, I see where I have it in for Port Forwarding (443) but I do not see it in the attached devices. I can ping the IP address which I believe is assigned to the Isy, but when I try to add that specific address to the it says it's Invalid. At this point, I have the feeling my solution is simple, but since I have not worked with the system in so many years, the answer is escaping me. Any direction would be welcomed.

What version of of firmware is on the ISY?  Or what do you think it is?

Can you navigate to https://YOUR IP:443/desc

If you are at the same location as your ISY and you are Not using custom ports, your ISY should be available on the standard port 80. If you want to use port 443, you would need to use https instead of the standard http.

Are you using the correct ISY Launcher? To be sure, clear your Jave cache and go to the page for firmware updates and install the Launcher for your firmware.

When using the Launcher it will automatically select the correct UI.

Also, the Launcher should be able to find your ISY. If it doesn't you can select the add button and enter:

http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx

Hit enter and wait a moment. If it was the correct IP address, it will be added. If you don't know the IP address look at the ISY and find the Mac address. Then look in your router for the IP associated with that IP.

Observations: It sounds like you have connectivity via the portal.    It also sounds like you have an old port forward but DHCP has changed the IP.   Since it's been several years It's likely to assume that your ISY is running a v4.x firmware.

There are a few methods of launching the admin console.  Installing the correct version on your desktop is one, the Launcher which is newer is another.  These are different methods.  I would recommend making certain you are using The Launcher, for that follow the instructions in the link below, the Launcher will often times locate your ISY on the network, but not always.

If Launcher can't find the IP of your ISY then most routers usually have a clients table although they all seem to name them a little bit differently.  I would look further through the router interface to see if you can locate the correct IP.  If you can't find it tell us the model of your router and we might be able to help figure out what to click on.  Also tell us if your doing this on Window10 or a Mac, and if Mac which generation of MacOS.

Yes, I can access via the Portal, but I from there, I can only turn devices on and off. I need to rename an old device and update the program associated with that device.  I tried the  https://YOUR IP:443/desc with my public IP address and it did not work. I also tried without the "s" and it also would not locate. Firmware is 4.6.2 according to the portal. Side Note, I used  http://my.isy.io to identify my Mac address and I don't see this Mac address listed as a connected device on my network. My Mac address is 00:21:b9:01:ff:26 Below are the connected devices on my network.

Try this:

Finding ISY's Current IP Address from a Windows Command Console

Open a Command Console (DOS Prompt) Window:

Go to the Start menu and choose Run.

In the Run dialog, enter cmd and click OK.

At the command prompt, type the command:

arp -a <ENTER>

The arp command will display a table containing the IP Address and Physical Address of each of the network-connected devices it discovers.

Locate the line on which the Physical Address column contains ISY's MAC address (see the section #Finding ISY's MAC Address).

From the table line identified in the previous step, obtain ISY's IP address (Figure 10).

Once you have the IP address, download the Launcher and try to access your ISY. Once you get in, I suggest you set up a DHCP reservation with your router. The instructions are in the Wiki.

Update. I am in!!! After scratching my head a few more times, i decided to inspect the cables. It appears when they installed my Fios last year, the installer plugged my ISY into my Modem and not my router. Since it all worked, I never gave it a second thought. After plugging it into the router, I was able to find it, ping it, and attach to it via the launcher. Thank you all for the quick responses.
