carealtor Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I see some 2477D in there. I would need to know: Are all the switches dual band? Are there any 2477S in there? Are there any micro-modules? Mini Remotes?

TheSwartz Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 Well I'm shocked! I created listings for all of this on eBay as a way to get things organized, pre-pack things, etc. I listed each lot at what I thought were astronomical prices and... nearly every single thing was sold before I woke up! All that is left are the Insteon Hub, Hub Pro, and the wall plates -- the three things that are probably the most worthless LOL! Sorry and I guess an FYI for you all, I was only looking to get ~$1K for selling all of this in bulk, but in the end, this was ~$3.5K as large lots. I guess the moral of the story is that there is a good secondary market for Insteon right now? So, if anyone else is in a similar situation, you have some hope! For now... Thank you. 2

Might be a quick way to move from 2477D/S to Zen72s, at little to no cost. Can you give a hint, what prices did you set compared to what its retail was, a bit ago? * Orest Edited May 26, 2022 by oskrypuch

Which I would think is nuts to pay for used devices from a bankrupt manufacturer based on proprietary technology with spotty 3rd party support.. but of course I understand that if someone is heavily invested into Insteon and is not interested in changing everything out (which I just did and... a lot of work..). But there you go. The ISY controller I marked up 25% because I know it's worth more, but that's different. I think the only other one listed on eBay was >$1,000!!! I'm not like that.

I'm not like that. 994's by themselves have been selling for under retail on ebay. 2413s or an 994 bundled with a 2413s has been selling for extreme values. If anyone does their homework before buying they will understand the 994 is at the end of its product life cycle.
apostolakisl Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I put a 994i and PLM combo up for bid on ebay. Started at $100 and it closed at over $1000. I had multiple people PM messaging me trying to get me to "sell it now" to them for even slightly more than the auction closed. The item already had bids so I declined. Crazy.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 This thread gave me an idea! From now on, the price of Polisy is increased to $1234! With kind regards, Michel 4
smokegrub Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 This experience screams that a buyer of Smarthome will find a robust market for more than PLMs. Couple that with new and improved product development...

I wouldn't say that. Supply and demand. People are paying premium because they're fully invested. It's cheaper to spend 500 bucks on a PLM than thousands of dollars and countless weeks starting fresh. They will make money but would they make enough to warrant the investment before the patents run out
oskrypuch Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 @TheSwartz Bear in mind that some (many?) of those purchases might have been speculators, waiting to double and treble the prices. * Orest

Also, if someone such as UDI acquires the company and starts to make improvements to the product line I would love to be their first customer. I am confident I am but one of many so inclined. I have found the Insteon products to be durable and highly dependable. Over the years I have had one PLM fail and one switch which Smarthome replaced (two houses each with an ISY994). Do I want to lose my investment? No. Do I want to learn a new technology at age 77? No. 1
