Dual Band Lamplinc 2457D2 Communications

Searched the forums and couldn't find an answer to my question, although I thought that I had read something about this previously on one of the forums. Just got my ISY 99 and in the process of setting it up. Have a mixture of Insteon and X10 devices, but am in the process of migrating to Insteon. Ordered a couple of dual band lamplincs at the same time as my ISY99 and plugged the lamp lincs in last night and tested them to see if they are bridging the phases. When setting them into test mode the LED flashes green indicating that I am on or bridging two phases. And that is the basis for my question.

 

What exactly does the test mode on the lamp lincs (or access points for that matter) show? Is it that the lamp lincs are on different phases or that they are successfully bridging the two phases? And if so, does the test show that bridging via powerline or via the RF? My main concern is regarding the RF communication between the two devices. I have concrete floors between each level of my house and have had some difficulty in the past with cordless phones and even wireless on my laptop working. I wanted to confirm that the two lamplincs were communicating via RF successfully.

The test shows that they are successfully communicating via RF and are on opposite legs of the power. Any trouble with your powerline devices? Be aware they do not repeat X10.

Also since Insteon devices are two way with a power line transmitter in them. They may absorb signals. Insteon gets repeated while X10 does not.

Some have found the more Insteon devices in the system. The better they work while X10 devices may get less reliable.
