DaveStLou
Has anyone tried moving the Zwave usb dongle from IoX to HA? I'm not sure I want to do this but I'm considering using my Polisy for Insteon and HA for Zwave, Zigbee and other integrations. My thought would be to power down my Polisy while I test in HA. I assume the devices would continue to communicate with the Zwave dongle. If successful I could figure out how which programs to modify on Polisy and which to move to HA. Many, I suspect would be hybrids - using both. Thoughts? Edited April 17, 2023 by DaveStLou Link to comment
Geddy
@DaveStLou moved your post out to its own topic for more exposure and possible answer directly. Do you mean the UDI ZMatter USB Dongle or another brand of USB Z-Wave dongle? Link to comment
brians
@DaveStLou I doubt that the ZMatter dongle is supported in HA. It can however use the Zooz USB ZWave dongle that was previously used in Polisy. It will work not simply placing it in the HA without resetting it. The security keys will be different and from Polisy. HA generates new keys as part of the setup process. HA itself does not have any idea of what devices were included from Polisy. All devices will have to be excluded/re-included. What you can do though if you are using a Zooz is to install the Silicon Labs software in Windows and do a backup of the dongle... then reset it in HA and play around with some spare Z-Wave devices. If you find HA is not working with ZWave like you though (doubtful) and want to revert back to Polisy, just restore the backup again using the Silicon Labs and insert back in Polisy and should work again except for devices you excluded/included in HA that were on Polisy before. There is a thread in ZWave 700 forum where I mention how to do the backup and restore. If you are doing this though as a trial/experiment I highly recommend getting a separate Zooz Zwave USB dongle for HA so you can run both systems simultaneously and move stuff over at your leisure. The Zooz dongle is not that expensive. Edited April 10, 2023 by brians Link to comment

Was it working before? Try updating the addon if available, if not and is a new setup, remove the integration and re-add it, make sure you select the correct USB device during setup. are you setup using zwave mqtt ? brians
Plug into a computer and use the silicon labs software and see what firmware is in it. It needs to be a certain version. 1 Link to comment
asbril
I tried.... On the one hand Simplicity Studio clearly shows the Zooz USB, but on the other hand anything I do gives me an error message. I ordered a new (800) USb which is due to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully a new stick will work. Link to comment

If an 800 works I may purchase one so I have latest version before I jump in too far into this, but on the other hand new versions of things may sometimes be buggier! Link to comment

What triggered me was the "Use with Home Assistant" and in fact the 800 is a few dollars cheaper than the 700. Edited April 10, 2023 by asbril Link to comment

I just succesfully installed the Zooz 800 stick in HA and also included a Aoetec 700 series plug. It is a different procedure than IoX but I will experiment with it. 1 Link to comment

I may pickup one of those before I get too involved but Canada store doesn’t have yet, but they do ship to Canada from USA store. Edited April 11, 2023 by brians Link to comment
DaveStLou
I picked up a Zooz 800 stick and noticed Zooz has a firmware update available. I attempted to update in Home Assistant per Zooz's instructions but it is failing. Has anyone gotten the firmware update to work in HA? Link to comment

Zooz support sent me to Simplicity Studio which is anything but simple. They asked me to reset the stick which so far hasn't worked so there may be something wrong with my 800 stick. Link to comment

I also then connected the stick to Complexity Studio but got totally lost. That is when I purchased the 800 stick which was included in HA like a charm. Link to comment
