rayg Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 I unplugged the ISY and plugged it back in (without reseating the sd-card) and the ISY booted and worked fine. Later (silly me), I re-seated the sd card after I read that the blinking red light might indicate this was needed. BUT NOW all I get is the blinking red light after plugging it back in Grrrr! So now what does the Red light blinking mean? Could it be the SD Card lost its programming? What next? Thanks ...Ray
Techman Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Only Error light blinking: ISY cannot communicate with the SD Card. Please ensure: The micro SD Card (on the front) is seated properly. Unplug ISY, remove the rubber cap, using a sharp object, push the micro SD Card in so that it pops out. Push it back in so it clicks in. Apply power to ISY If reseating the micro SD Card does not work, you probably have a defective SD Card. Please consult Replacing/Formatting SD Card

If not, you probably trashed the SD card doing it with the file system live. 1
rayg Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) Thanks Bill & Techman am usually pretty good about this but that is too good an explanation to deny that I may have Fffed up some more by not powering down before. SOLVED: Anyway I replaced the card with a pre-formatted one and it took me a while to be able to communicate with the ISY. It took a factory reset in the end (despite what docs say about not being required), to be able to talk to it from my PC and Admin console. Restored the backup but the ISY said at the end of startup there were important files missing. I applied latest firmware which did the trick and then restored the morning's backup again and things came back clean with no errors or messages. This morning I'm in business so I backup up again. I think the mistake here is that the First thing you do with a new formatted card is load the appropriate firmware, the second thing that you do is restore backup. The ISY will boot with boot loader firmware when a new blank MicroSD card is installed. The problem is that firmware is both not complete, and it's ancient. Therefor the next thing to do is install full recent firmware, second thing to do is restore your backup. I'm not sure what happens when you perform factory reset on a new card, but components of whatever gets installed are likely ancient. 1
