philgood
Thanks for reading my post. Looking at the devices in My Lighting, I'm mostly seeing only Insteon and very few of my ZWave devices. I can't remember making any significant changes, outside of Polisy updates but I did try restoring a past backup but I still don't see most of my ZWave devices. I have ordered on of the ZMatter USB devices to hopefully the range of my ZWave devices and get ready for Matter but before I install it, should I do anything besides a backup before install the ZMatter? I'm not against the idea of relinking my ZWave devices, as their Names are no longer in the My Lighting list and I don't have a written list of associating their addresses to names. Any suggestions are appreciated. phil Link to comment
Techman
What is the firmware and UI version of your Polisy What are you using for a Zwave controller? Do you have a recent, and current, Zwave backup? Edited September 29, 2023 by Techman Link to comment
philgood
The firmware and UI version of the Polisy is 5.7.0. I'm using the ZMatter controller that UD was selling a year ago and installs on the internal pcie port. I'm hoping the USB version will work better. Apparently the system backups don't save the ZWave configurations, so I guess not. Link to comment
tlightne
The USB version of the Zmatter controller is exactly the same card as the USB version. To backup Zwave in AC select Zwave then down the list is backup. Do this then backup ISY and it will include the Zwave backup. 1 Link to comment
Techman
@philgood You might try removing power from the Polisy to see if that restores your Zwave devices. Zwave has to be backed up manually, there's a backup option under the Zwave menu. In your situation, being that you don't have a Zwave backup, you will have to rebuild your Zwave network from scratch once you remove the internal Zwave card and install the external Zmatter dongle. Your Zwave devices will need to be excluded and then included in the external Zmatter dongle. Moving forward, both Insteon and Zwave should be backed up anytime you add, remove, or make changes to devices or programs. Note: The UD Store now has the external Zmatter enclosures back in stock. All you would have to do is remove your internal Zmatter card from the Polisy and insert it into the external USB enclosure ZMatter USB Enclosure Only - Universal Devices (universal-devices.com) Edited September 30, 2023 by Techman Link to comment
philgood
Would there be any advantage to moving the Zmatter dongle outside of the case? My Polisy is already about 6-7' off the ground and is above the metal rack where it sits. Link to comment
Techman
Not really, as both dongles use external antennas. The only advantage of using the Zmatter USB version is that the Zmatter board can be located away from the Polisy. This would be helpful if the Polisy was located in a metal cabinet or other location that interferes with the RF signal. Link to comment
