jukeman Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Folks: I have a unique EISY question. I do not consider myself an expert, however I've been using an ISY, and now an Eisy since March 2018. I am pretty good an catching oddities in adding or programming devices. Here's an oddball question for you, regarding the open/close sensor. On my OLD ISY, I added 5 open close sensors (2843-222) VERSION 1.8. Each device had an OPEN node, a CLOSED node, and a HEARTBEAT node. All good, and it made my notification programs easy to do... NOW, I have migrated to an EISY, November 2024 - My existing five open/close sensors came over with ALL THREE NODES, open, closed and heartbeat. Today, I just added an additional open/close sensor same part number 2843-222 - Version 1.9 - slightly newer version. I only get TWO NODES - OPEN and HEARTBEAT. This seems strange, as you would think a newer version of open/close sensor would have total backward compatibility and design? I am thinking there's something in the EISY that may be causing this? I can live this it, but I REALLY want all THREE NODES; as it makes notification setup easier with UD mobile. I am running 5.9.1 on my eisy. I THINK that's the current version I easily installed the new sensor using the LINK MANAGEMENT > LINK A SENSOR action; and it worked, but still only installed the two nodes. I did a RESTORE DEVICE, I still only two nodes. I removed and installed manually, using the address of the device, and still only two nodes were installed. Can anyone speak to this? Solution Techman Posted June 15 Solution Posted June 15 You really only need the two nodes, open and heartbeat. If the sensor isn't open then it's closed. However, in the eisy if you look at the options for the open close sensor you'll see the option for the close node (2 nodes). It's also possible that insteon, in the current sensor firmware, eliminated the close node. 1 Quote

It's one of those obscure things that I don't think I've ever looked at before - and probably would have never found. An of course, I would use the logic of Open or NOT-Open; However I really like the UD Mobile Push Notifications, and at a glance, I can see if a door is Open or Closed, without having to look at the yes or no for open.
