First Alert ZCOMBOA not staying awake

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble getting this device to stay awake. I have "Keep Awake" set to "On", but I cannot get the "Wake Interval" to populate. I wake the device and about an hour later it returns a false on awake. This my first Zwave device on my system. The device and Eisy are in the same room. Is there anyone who has had success with this device, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you trying to keep it awake? If you are talking about the First alert Smoke detector it will continue to monitor for smoke while it is sleeping.

Not being conversant with Zwave devices, I'm trying to my head wrap around this. If it is not awake how does it maintain messaging to Eisy. If a program is expecting a value in order to send a notification, how is that happening if the device is not awake. Right now the the device does not show any value in the items that I want notification for. How do I know that this device is sync'd properly? I can't query the device. I'm so confused. 🤔

What I learnt this afternoon. First, for what ever reason, I needed to do a "Factory Reset" right from the package, could have been this batch ( I added three devices). That is done by holding the test button while pushing in the batteries and holding the button for 10 sec, you will get one beep at start and one beep when complete. The next thing is don't use the "SmartStart Add" in the UD app as this sets the device with "S2" and some values were missing. Using the AC to add the device sets up with "S2AUTH" and values are present. "Keep Awake" is non-issue, as when the smoke detector is triggered messaging is refreshed accordingly. I put a weak set of batteries in one unit and it is currently returning a decreasing level.

To be honest I had my doubts about ZWave, still not rushing to get more. My "Hit Head Here" spot got a real workout these pass two days. For those that are following this "thanks" for the moral support sometimes that is all that needed.
