Admin Console PLM Info/Status

Featured Replies

Question.

I'm experiencing a PLM failure (as in, it stopped working but I can get it to work for about 15 seconds if I leave it unplugged for 30 seconds). I'm working through that with the Insteon warranty, but my main question is this. When it failed, if I use the PLM Info/Status in the Admin Console, it showed that it was connected. But now that I have it removed and sitting on my desk, the command still shows me that it is connected.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Neither. Essentially IoX only enumerates the PLM at boot up.

When IoX starts at boot up it opens comms with the PLM serial device, identifies the PLM type and address, then establishes a session and caches that state internally. After that IoX doesn't continuously re-enumerate or poll the PLM's presence.

Only ways to reinitialize the PLM again is by running a Restore Modem, manually restarting the IoX service, or a full reboot.

If you try connecting a healthy PLM after boot up is completed and IoX is started, it wont detect the PLM until one of the above happens.

Powered down for awhile and working for a short time after power up. Was one of the known problems when the PLM was failing.

The ISY994i only checks for the PLM Status Info. When it is booting up. If you disconnected the PLM and the ISY994i was not rebooted. It will still be reported as connected. Even though it is not connected or has gone off line.
