brobin Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 The other day I was replacing 9 more Insteon/Icon switches that suffered from the infamous paddle issue. I'd already done about a dozen several months ago. One of the new switches could not be added and generated an error message, something about not finding the engine, and error -20001. The solution (for version 5.0 + units) was to reset the switch to factory defaults by pulling out the air gap tab for 10 seconds and then pushing it in and holding it for 3 seconds till it beeps. Hope this tidbit saves someone a little time someday!
Mark Sanctuary Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 There must have been some garbage in the switch...good catch!
Brian H Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Some of us do a factory reset on every module we install. As sometimes test addresses are found in them from the QC tests.
brobin Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 That's a good recommendation as it only takes an additional 15 seconds to do it! Even with 9 switches to do it would only have added a couple of extra minutes to the project.
