Variables With ISY Thermostat Control

When variables are added to the ISY, is there any way you could rewrite your thermostat control to either work in its current setup, or have the various thermostat variables accessible through REST to allow external 3rd party thermostats to interact?

 

I have a program written to control my Honeywell thermostat and it would be great if I could write to variables which would allow the standard ISY thermostat control to interact with it.

 

This would allow the ISY's thermostat control to act some what like an "API" where a developer could "plug-in" their own thermostat.
