Need Help. Can't communicate with anything

Recommended Posts

My problem started about 1 1/2 weeks ago with some scheduled events not working, and a couple days ago I can't control any but 1. I checked my connections, did a PLM status check and it is connected, but can't get a response for my modules or thermostats. For a while I would see a status change from a remotelinc, but not all the time. One light does seem to work but is very slow to respond. I just tried it and took me over a minute to turn the light off. I also just looked at my error log and have the following as most recent (System -170001 [uDSockets] HTTP:31 error:6) What happened?

Someone may have plugged in or moved something that is interfering with power line signals. Is there anything new around where the PLM is plugged in? Did you just replace a computer power supply or is a son or daughter home visiting from college and plugging switching power supply chargers in where they don't usually live? The PLM should be plugged directly into a wall or into a power strip that does not have a surge or noise filter built in, since the power line signal is essentially 'noise' to a filter.

Next, check that both of the dual-band devices you are using to couple the two legs of your electric system are still plugged in where you originally installed them. Re-run the test to verify they are still talking to one another on opposite legs.

Once that's done, get a 50 or 100 foot extension cord out of the garage, plug the ISY PLM into one side, then plug the other end into an outlet on another circuit and retest. If you find signals are reliable when plugged into another outlet but not in the original one, then you can start unplugging things on the original circuit until you figure out what other appliance should be filtered to get back to reliable communications.

Now I am really confused. Nothing different has been plugged in or moved. I have Insteon venstar adapters and tried the easy fix first. I unplugged one of two and reinserted it, now everything is working again. Still getting a 'cant communicate' error on one lamplinc but it does work. Not sure what fixed it but right now it ain't broke. Thanks for the help.
