Virtual Insteon controllers

I thought it would be nice if the ISY could have set of Virtual Insteon Controller Devices. They could be added to scenes, linked to "real Insteon switches: and other control software. I think it could be useful to get around the limitation of one controlled scene/ per keypad link key (not sure if I said that as accurately as possible) as well as some of the ramp rate/dim level per device limitations we have. Could also be used for triggers when interfacing with other control systems like Indigo - Indigo or other software could turn on a virtual switch acting as a controller for a scene.

Any one else think something like this would be nice?

Is it at all feasible to do within a reasonable amount of time and effort?

This obviously could be something that Smarthome could offer as a stand alone device as well.

Great Minds Think Alike!

I have been trying to figure out how to do something like this alo!

I have been using a real device as a "Dummy"

I have been using this to try to get my EZIO8SA to work!

I have been hoping to see something like this, but I have a hard time trying to explain what I want. I do PLC programming. They have the abiity to do this. It is very useful.

I was wondering if there were any updates on this subject.

I have many needs for virtual devices.

I have been using several ApplianceLinks to meet my needs until a more permanent solution was availabe. I have them plugged into a power strip in a closet, with noting connected to them.

Now I need more, but feel it is a waste of money to use them for that purpose.

Can you give me an example of what you use a "virtual device" for? I am curious...

Thanks.
