mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I am using 99ipro IR. Yesterday I linked a appliancelinc to the system. All was working fine. Today it was also, then it got a not responding error. Could access it on the bottom of the screen turn on and off. No timer response. I deleted the module. Now I am trying to add it again and it wont link. Reset the Appliancelinc to factory settings. No link. Now I am stumped!!!!!!
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Move the ApplianceLinc to the same outlet as the PLM and try adding it to the ISY again.
mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks, that seems to have worked. Crazy it worked yesterday and not today. I guess I have alot to learn.
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 That could indicate a problem with the 120V leg coupling. What devices are being used to couple the 120V legs?
mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 I have a dual band PLM on one, and a 2443 Access point on the other.
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Does the Access Point/PLM combination pass the 4 Set button tap test?
mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Not sure what you mean! I tapped the set button 4 times and green light blinked, then I pluged the access point in upstairs and the light was steady. Then i tapped the set button on the PLM to finish the process.
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Depends on the version of Access Point. If it is recent the Access Point (v2.0 and above) it should have been blinking Green if it is receiving the PLM RF signal and on the opposite 120V leg.
mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 it is the older style with the white LED verson 2.0
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Unplug the Access Point for 60 seconds. Without tapping PLM Set button plug in Access Point and observe LED. I think a steady dim LED will be observed. Now repeat the same test but with the PLM 4 Tap active. Does the Access Point LED show a different indication when the Access Point is plugged in and the PLM is sending test RF message. The problem is Smarthome has combined the User Manuals for Access Points V2.0 and above but the examples of expected results do not include a v2.0 Access Point with a white LED.
mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Ok, when I unplug the accsess point, wait 60 sec and plug back in I get a dim steady light. (no change in PLM while doing this) Then unplug the PLM wait 60 sec and plug backin, green light on, tap button 4 times, light steady green and beeping sound, (this has no effect on the light on the access point)
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 The RF signal from the PLM is not reaching the Access Point. There should be some positive indication of the Access Point LED that an RF signal is being received. It will have a different positive indication depending on whether on the same 120 V leg or the opposite 120V leg. Move the Access Point to the same circuit as the PLM and whatever Access Point LED response from a 4 tap on the PLM will indicate RF received but on the same 120V leg. Move the Access Point around the 1st floor until a positive indication is seen that is different from when plugged into the same circuit. May be necessary to keep the Access Point on the 1st floor on the opposite 120V leg.
mrxmas Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Ok, Plugged the acsess point in to same curcit as PLM, 4 tap test acsess point rapidly bleaks, Finally found and different reponse upstairs, a bright slow blink and the a dim steady light!
Brian H Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 On the below 2.0. If the second Access Points LED is still dim. It is not receiving the RF from the first one. If the second Access Points LED is flashing bright. It is receiving the RF but on the same phase as the first one. If the second Access Points LED is steady Bright It is receiving the RF from the first Access Point and on the other phase. It may briefly pulse dim between tests but mostly steady bright. The full users manuals if you don't have them are here. For both the below 2.0 and above 2.0. http://wiki.smarthome.com/index.php?tit ... 7s_Manuals
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Brian The problem is his Access Points are v2.0 with White LEDs. The User Guide that is pointed to from the sales page for v2.0 and above describes the results in the context of a Red Green LED response, nothing about a v2.0 White LED response. Thanks for posting the below 2.0 information. Lee
LeeG Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 mrxmas The slow Bright response should be a good location Lee
Brian H Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 There is a choice on the sales page for prior revision documents, but who knows what prior version refers to? All of mine are below 2.0. Only dual band unit I have with the Red Green LED is the 2413S PLM.
mrxmas Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Thanks Lee, for all you help. This is a big change from X10 ActiveHome Pro to ISY 99i Pro! I have alot to learn, I have to learn all of the different termanolage! Is there a ISY 99i Book for Dummys? LOL Thanks again!
Brian H Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 If you have not found the full users manual yet. http://www.universal-devices.com/docs/i ... rguide.pdf The Knowledge base also has lots of good information in it. http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... =Main_Page
LeeG Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 mrxmas You are very welcome. The links to the User Guide and Wiki that Brian posted make good sources of reference. You will find the ISY user community very helpful with questions and the UDI support is the best in the industry. Hope you enjoy the ISY as much as we do. Lee
