Problem with linking RemoteLinc #2440

Featured Replies

I'm new at this, I have linked 2 dimmers and 1 appliance module to ISY with no problems, now I'm trying to link a RemoteLinc #2440. I'm not sure how to do this, I have tried several things with no luck. The RemoteLinc controls all 3 modules just find, I just can't see it in ISY. I guess I need a little help until I can get the hang of it.

I tried holding down on the #1 button or the Dim & Bright button on the RemoteLinc for 10 seconds until the LED blinks, that means its in the linking mode, then try to link it to ISY

Use Link Management | Link a RemoteLinc. When prompted press the Dim/Bright buttons on the RemoteLinc to put it into linking mode so the ISY can communicate with the device.

What type Dual Band device(s) are being used for communication with RF devices?

I'm using two dual band Access Points #2443, I don't see the Access Points either in ISY, but I don't thing I'm suppose to either.

I put the RemoteLinc very close to the #2443 while it was blinking.

One other thing, the RemoteLinc #2440 was not bought new, its used. Could it be its an older model of RemoteLinc that will not work with ISY?

Label inside the battery compartment reads "1208 REV1.0" and "0A.35.70".

I hope this is not the case

The Access Points are not added to the ISY. They have no configuration and no links.

The RemoteLinc is not out dated but it might be defective. What is the symptom when using the Dim/Bright buttons to establish linking mode?

The only thing that happens is the LED on the RemoteLinc #2440 blinks when I HOLD DOWN ON DIM and BRIGHT for 5 seconds, then its in linking mode, I see nothing at all in ISY, nothing.

I do not get the screen below, I never have seen this screen pop up

When the New INSTEON Device popup displays enter the Address that was found in the battery compartment xx.xx.xx Enter the Name you want the RemoteLinc known as. The Device Type should already contain RemoteLinc from selecting the Add a RemoteLinc option. Click Ok. The RemoteLinc stays in linking mode (LED blinking) or approx 4 minutes. There should be no delay in entering the Address and Name information and clicking Ok.

Ok. that got it, I know now if I can't get something to link, enter the address

I HOPE YOU WIN THE LOTO, A BIG THANK YOU SIR :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You should normally type in the Insteon Address to the Add an Insteon Device Screen.

Some of us have made a chart or list of IDs as we install them. Makes finding it easier than removing switch plates etc. :)

If you used the other linking choice of Start Linking and then walked around to all the modules and used their linking buttons. Then they are found and added.
