Unskd lites out @ 4:51 & 5:11 P Daily and KPL/Scene issue

My first post:

I have two issues:

1) About half the Insteon house lights (10) turn off daily at about 4:51:50 and 5:11:45 daily. I have no events programmed or scheduled at that time and as the off time remains within a 20 second range, I do not believe it is related to a Sunset delay time. I am running ISY 99i (1020) through and Insteon UD99 v 2.8.16 (or so it says on my Universal Devices 'About' panel.) I bought same through SmartHome.

I have captured these off sequences over several days (and if it goes on further my wife . . . Let It just be said it won’t be fun.) See the two sets of sequences below. I have looked all over my program details and have come to the end of a Box Canyon. Can I get guidance as to how to go forward? :?

2) I have two 6 button KeypadLinc (‘KPL’) in the Kitchen that control scenes in the Kitchen area (incl. laundry and breakfast areas. The North KPL (‘NKPL’), 286D v.36, is a relay switch for fluorescent lights. Scenes controlled by the South KPL (‘SKPL’) and the remaining buttons on the NKPL are controllers of ten different scene consisting of various settings of seven sets of lights. The SKPL button/light combos work correctly for all the scene settings work correctly for six sets of lights. However, the NKPL scenes only turn on the Sunroom lamps in two of the five scenes it controls. In those two scenes, I programmed the lamp to be dimmed to the 60% level. Nevertheless, in all five scenes the Sunroom lights come on at a 100% level. I am bewildered as to why?

Thanks in advance for the sage advice. :)

Best

John

This sequence is most likely manually set, for there is no ‘ON’ programming for these lights.

Nice data collection. Unfortunately the trace is showing result not cause. Set the Event Viewer Level: to Device communications events ahead of the time these are expected. That should give some information as to why.

Edit: tell the better half it is the ghost of Christmas past.

Thanks LeeG

Here goes with a trace of today - which I have attached. I also attached a run from yesterday (12/16).

They are rather longer than the traces I posted within the forum, but I wanted to give y0u the flavor of whats going on. I hope my formatting keys and colors you in on the appropriate areas. :?

Thanks for your help.

The devices are being turned Off with an ISY Scene. The Scene number is 0x1F decimal 31.

There is a REST command that displays the Scenes and gives the Scene number. Have to look it up. Will post back when I figure out the correct syntax.

Thanks LeeG:

Spot on. I found the Scene and then noticed an unused program that was causing the fault.

Will test tonight, but I am pretty sure you found the Grinch for me. :D

Any time.

All the trace entries indicated the same ISY Scene. The detail trace produced with Device communications events traced this message...

Fri 12/16/2011 04:52:28 PM : [iNSTâ€ACK ] 02 62 00.00.1F CF 13 00 06

which is a Scene control message. They are unique because the From device address is 00 00 xx where xx is the hexadecimal ISY Scene number. Converting 0x1F to decimal 31 the Scene list can be searched for a match to the 31 which gives the Scene name.

It worked perfectly - Christmas will be now peaceful about the house until the Red Suited chimney sweep visits.

BTW there was no way that with my V. limited programming experience that I would have been able to debug the problem as you did. Bravo!

Now there is this little other thing . . . Ah, but that can and will wait until after the Holidays.

Cheers to all!

John
