I will start with Im a NewBee. I have got the 99I and plm up and going. When I try to link devices (2476D, 2476DH,2476S and 2456D3) none of them show up. I hit the link and walked around and held down the set button until it flashed and beeped, but when I go back to the computer nothing. Can anyone help me?

Software rev can be found in Admin Console of ISY Help>About.

Open the event viewer Tools>Diagnostics>Event Viewer and set the drop down selection box to "Device Communications Events then try and link one of your switches. Post the event viewer data.

Sorry for the delay, and to say I have something I need to attend to right now. It looks like you may have comm. issues.

Suggest pluging the appliancelinc into the same leg near the plm and try to link with that device.

In the mean time hopefully LeeG or Michel will chime in and continue to help.

If you are still having problems adding a particular device repeat the Event Viewer trace but set the Level: pulldown to Device communications events. The posted trace did not have this option selected and provides no detail regarding commands issued and what the device did with those commands if anything. Often times when a wired/plugged device does not add it is due to comm problems because the phases are not coupled or the particular electrical circuit has a problem.

Also be sure the PLM is not plugged into a surge suppressor power strip and not plugged in where a UPS is plugged unless the UPS is isolated with a FilterLinc.

Lets reset to the beginning. You click Start Linking or Link Management | Start Linking. A popup displays with three linking options and a Finish button. A Set button on a device is pressed for 3-5 seconds to identify the device to the ISY. The Finish button is clicked which produces the posted trace.

If that is the sequence the ISY PLM is not seeing the device Set button message.

Invoke the Event Viewer with Device communications events selected. Use Link Management | New INSTEON Device, entering Address (Insteon address), and Name (your choice), leaving Device Type as Auto Discover. Click Ok.

Describe what happened and post the trace.

Of course the next one I try does not work, now this is on the same current as the previous switch. Just controls different set of lights. This is the error that pops up and see the event viewer below.

The device is not responding to any of the commands. Note the 9 second time difference between the commands below. These are outbound commands to the device with NO response to any of them. Since you mentioned it is a new device it could be a wiring problem. Could be a device problem or location problem. Double check the address label. Then a Factory reset of the device. What type of device is it?

The device can be verified by connecting it to an appliance cord. They have a plug on one end and bare wires on the other. Available in most any hardware or home improvement store. Simply wire nut the device to the appliance cord and plug it into the PLM outlet. This eliminates a wiring question as it is black to black, white to white, and eliminates location question by plugging it in at the PLM location. If it does not work on the appliance cord (and address is correct) the device is defective. If it works on the appliance cord either a wiring problem or location problem.

It was a 2476D, I just installed 2 switches and a keypad switch. The system can not link to any of them. So all three are on the same circuit and the one that is in the other room is also on the same circuit as another dimmer. I'm wondering if it has to do with multiple switches on the same circuit.
