PLM and PS?

I am in the process of wiring in a new ELK M1 to replace a 30 year old security system. Does anyone know if I can plug my PLM into the same wall outlet as the wall-wart power supply for my ELK? Would I need a wall-wart filter to do this?

It would be nice to keep the PLM in the same closet as the ELK. I have my ISY located in a closet across the hallway but the outlet in there is on a different circuit and is not backed up with generator power. Maybe a better option would be to plug the ELK PS into the closet with the ISY and run a low voltage feed from there to the ELK panel in the other closet. Just curious what have others have done, what works and what doesn't?

If it is a type with a power transformer in it. It would probably be fine.

If it is one of the new switching types it could be a problem, but not all of them are. My ISY99i is being run by the switching supply included in my older ISY26 kit.

Thanks, your responses are somewhat helpful. Maybe I needed to word it another way. From other posts, I've formed an opinion that the PLM needs to be away from any Insteon signal suckers. I also assume that wall-warts, being transformers or more, could be a signal sucker. So if I plug a wall-wart into the same wall duplex as my PLM, will I be creating line noise that will effect my system communication?

I know the filters work and distance (from a signal sucker) helps. Where is the best place for the PLM? Closer to the breaker panel or more centrally located (like my closet).

My house & garage is "L" shaped (where my garage is the L part) and my breaker panel is located on the wall furthest from the house. On the other hand, I have Insteon products in a pump house and shed located away from the house and I have not experienced any communication issues to those devices. (knock on wood)
