Goose66 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Do SwitchLincs also serve as noise filters? My guess is the answer is no. But, why not? Especially for a SwitchLinc Relay or an ApplianceLinc, why not have the downstream circuit be filtered. This would solve 90% of my Insteon instability problems, caused by fluorescent or halogen fixtures installed in my house. Where I have fluorescents, I could just install a SwitchLinc and get both automated control of the light and filtering of noise at the same time.
Brian H Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I would agree with a No. I have seen photos of the Dual Band models in the FCC Database and didn't see anything close to what looks like a filter. To get components heavy enough to carry the current. The thing would have to be at least twice the size and never fit into a standard electrical box.
Goose66 Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 This is not as easy as a capacitor across the load? (I am a computer engineer, not an electrical engineer). EDIT: OK, that wouldn't work because it would attenuate the signal on both ends. I wonder what the circuitry in a FilterLinc looks like.
Brian H Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Not my drawing but from my opening one up. It looks correct. http://home.comcast.net/~gafield/family ... Filter.pdf
