Posted January 20, 201213 yr I have a button "TV Lights" (button G) on an Insteon Keypad link dimmer. It is a controller for a scene "TV Lights". Included in the scene is a light "family room ceiling" (button A) which is also on the same Keypad link dimmer. When the family room ceiling (button A) is turned on the lights set at 58%. This button is set as a responder to the scene TV Lights. In the scene TV Lights the family room ceiling is set to come on at 30%. When I use the TV Light (button G) the family room ceiling comes on at 58%. If I use my iPhone and Mobilinc to turn on the scene TV lights the family room ceiling comes on at 30% (which is what I want) What is the problem with the TV Light (button G) that overrides the scene TV Lights setting for the family room ceiling?
January 20, 201213 yr Every Controller establishes a unique set of On Level and Ramp Rate values for each of its Responders. Click on button G node name (as a Controller) that is listed below the ISY Scene name. Look at the On Level and Ramp Rate for each Responder when button G is the Controller.
January 20, 201213 yr In the scene TV Lights the family room ceiling is set to come on at 30%. When I use the TV Light (button G) the family room ceiling comes on at 58% Scene settings can be different based on the controller that initiates an action. In the "my lighting" tree, when you select a "scene" and view the settings for each of the responder devices, you will see the response based on the ISY/PLM being the controller. In this case, I expect to find the family romm ceiling set at 58%. Under the scene, if you now select button G, I suspect you will see a different set of responses, to be achieve when the scene is controlled by button G (as opposed to controlled by the ISY/PLM). I expect to find a 30% setting for your ceiling lights. Change this to 58% if this is the response you want when pressing button G. If I use my iPhone and Mobilinc to turn on the scene TV lights the family room ceiling comes on at 30% (which is what I want) This is because moblinc is activating the scene based on the ISY/PLM being the controller.
January 20, 201213 yr Author When I go into the scene and look under Button G the family room ceiling is set at 100%. When I move the slider to 30% the ISY writes and the slider stays at 30%. Once I go to another light switch or scene and come back, the Button G setting for the family room is back to 100%. All other lights in this scene that are also controlled by Button G operate as I set them.
January 20, 201213 yr Does the Progress Bar come up when the slider is moved to 30%. It sounds like the Admin Console was not notified of the slider movement. It is a Java question as the Admin Console has nothing to do with the actual movement of the slider itself. Try moving the slider to some other position and see if the Progress Bar comes up. If so after the Progress Bar is complete move the slider to 30% and see if the Progress Bar comes up again. What is the device type of the Family Room that is having its Responder On Level set to 30%?
January 20, 201213 yr Author I see the progress bar operate each time I make a change. The change, however, never remains at 30% (or any other setting) it always goes back to 100%. Button A and Button G are on the same 2486 Keypad dimmer.
January 20, 201213 yr LeeG, Are there any (older) versions of dimmers that require a power cylce to accept new scene setting such as this?
January 20, 201213 yr No. Some devices must be power cycled when Local On Level (applied locally) Local Ramp Rate (applied locally) is changed but Responder values reside in link records. The link record is retrieved by the responder device every time a command is received. No power cycle is required for responder value changes.
January 20, 201213 yr Author Any more suggestions? I am at a loss on how to resolve this issue. I am certainly willing to test any suggestions.
January 21, 201213 yr Author I have also tried to copy the scene attributes from the scene to the Button G. The Button A setting remains at 100% vs 30% for Button A on the Scene attributes.
January 21, 201213 yr Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level set to Device communications evemts. Change slider position for the Family Lights with the KPL button G node below the Scene name selected. Post the Insteon address of the KeypadLinc, the Family Light device and the event trace. Also what ISY firmware is being used. Is the Progress Bar displayed every time the On Level slider is moved?
January 21, 201213 yr Author Insteon address of the KeypadLinc and Family light device is 19.47.0D Button A & G are on the same keypad Firmware 2.8.16 Yesterday the Progress Bar displayed every time the On Level slider was moved. Today it does not appear at all with this scene/button G. It will appear with other keypads and switches when I make changes. January 21, 201213 yr Sorry for my confusion about the configuration. I was thinking there was a second device involved. What is the KeypadLinc firmware level? It is displayed at the end of the second line in the right pane when the KeypadLinc button A is selected. Some levels of KeypadLinc firmware do not support a Secondary KeypadLinc button affecting the load button the way you want.
January 21, 201213 yr The v.00 indicates the KeypadLinc was added by selecting the specific Device Type from the pulldown. Delete the KeypadLinc and add it back using Auto Discover so the KeypadLinc firmware will be retrieved during the device add process. Then post the KeypadLinc firmware. For a Secondary KeypadLinc button on the same KeypadLinc to affect the load button A On Level the firmware must be 2D or above.
January 22, 201213 yr Author Problem solved per your suggestion. I wish I had know about the auto discovery issue before installation as I have the same v 0.0 problem with other keypads. Thanks for taking the time to help me.
January 22, 201213 yr Glad to hear it is working. When using Auto Discover the device has to be querried for the Device Type. The device firmware level along with the Device Type comes back in the response.
