Hi, I just got a ISY-99i with the PowerLinc modem (model #2413S) and im getting ready to install it. I already have a Insteon Motion Sensor (model #2420M) linked with a Insteon SwitchLinc Dual-Band (model #2477D). The two work well together and I'm quite happy. My question is do I un-link the two devices before installing the ISY-99i?

It is not necessary to actually do a un-link but it is preferred to use the default "erase existing links" when adding a device. That way there is no possibility of picking up a bad link. There are a few exceptions for special devices but that is spelled out in the UDI Wiki for those devices.

 

Use an ISY Scene to link the two devices. The Motion Sensor –Sensor node would be a Controller and the SwitchLinc would be a responder.
