Gemineyez76 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Hey folks, I was doing some testing with my Remotelinc device with linking and unlinking devices. I arrived at a brick wall where no devices can be linked to the button "scene A". Also when I press the "all on" button, all lights that I was testing with earlier turned on but when I try using the individual buttons A-F, nothing powers on. even when I double tap to trigger a "fast on". So after having the above issues, I tried to use the ISY to add the Remotelinc and in doing so used the option to "remove links". I specifically chose the option to add the Remotelinc device via the menu "link management" and manually entered its address. After a short while of seeing data being written to the device, I receive error messages 200000/-9 & 200000/-1. if anyone can help me out with this, would be appreciated. I added a printscreen of the message to the post so you can see clearly what is being returned to me. thanks
Brian H Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 You did hold the bright and dim buttons until the RemoteLinc went into the linking mode? If the links for the RemoteLinc where not removed from the devices. They may still respond to the All set of buttons. Sounds like the links for the individual buttons where removed as they no longer access the devices in question.
Gemineyez76 Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Hi Brian I was under the impression that i needed to hold the "on" button to get it in to linking mode. however the factory reset is exactly what I suspect is causing the problem. thing is that if they are removed from the individual buttons, how can i tell what device is secretly linked to what particular button and also how do i remove it. I just want to remove all links associated with the remotelinc and then re-link the proper devices to the buttons. once i get that taken care of I believe the issue with the error messages when linking the remotelinc to my isy will be solved. looking at the manual only points to this for troubleshooting purposes... Problem: My INSTEON Devices don’t always respond to my RemoteLinc. Cause: The RemoteLinc may have been reset without first unlinking INSTEON Devices from it. Solution: Re-link your INSTEON Devices to RemoteLinc i have done as suggested but when i test via all on, all the same old devices turn on.
LeeG Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 "I receive error messages 200000/-9 & 200000/-1." Those messages indicate the ISY was not able to send commands to the RemoteLinc and have the RemoteLinc acknowledge the commands. Possible causes . RemoteLinc not in linking mode RemoteLinc timed out of linking mode RemoteLinc not in reliable RF range of a Dual Band device Old batteries in RemoteLinc “when i test via all on, all the same old devices turn on†This is the result of those old devices having a link back to the RemoteLinc which causes them to respond even though there is no link for that specific device in the RemoteLinc. Has to do with how the All On/All Off Group processing works in Insteon. If the devices that are responding are ISY devices a Restore Device will rewrite the link records ISY knows about and erase the manual Set button links. If they are not ISY devices do a factory reset on the device. Note: if those devices are known to the ISY, Set button links with those devices should never be done. The ISY is not aware of those link records and will eventually overlay or delete them.
Brian H Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 If you hold the On button you want to link. You are doing a manual linking that the ISY-99i may not be a part of. When doing a Remote Linking through the ISY-99i. Hold the Bright and Dim buttons until the LED flashes. You should not use manual linking as LeeG pointed out.
