vphagura Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 My morningLinc was working fine and suddenly today it stop responding to the ISY console cmds. It does chg the state from Locked to Unlocked but does not trigger these states to the actual lock. I can open and close the lock from the MorningLinc by pressing the SET button on it but it doesnt from the ISY. I read the forum topic at:http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=8473&p=64391&hilit=morningLinc#p64391 and tried all those things and moved my morningLinc to further electrical outlets but did not help. Also, I have deleted it from the ISY and did factory reset on it and no success. For the factory reset I followed the following process: - unplugged the morning linc for over 10 secs - while pressing the SET button I plugged in the morningLinc and held the SET depressed for 3secs more and let go - the led on the morning linc blinked once and was solid again Need help.. Any ideas?
LeeG Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Do a Show Device Links Table and Compare. If the links are not correct, Delete the MorningLinc, Factory reset the MorningLinc. Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level 3-Device communications events selected. Click Start Linking and add the MorningLinc per instructions in Wiki. Be sure to use the third option "keep existing links". Post the event log.
vphagura Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 I did Show Link table and then compare it give: (Extra Record) 0FF8: ff......( all FF) I deleted the morninglinc and did a factory reset earlier, that did not help.
LeeG Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 The FFFFF's indicate the MorningLinc no longer considers the ISY PLM authorized to access the MorningLinc. The purpose of the Delete and Factory reset is to set up for the next add to the ISY with the Event Trace running so I can see what the MorningLinc did not like. Most of the time the issue comes when adding the MorningLinc to a Scene. There was one user who had a problem adding the MorningLinc to the ISY. Both were timing related and may be solved by moving the MorningLinc to a circuit as far from the PLM circuit as possible. Don't bother with an extension cord. It is the device repeats creating a very slight delay that has resolved the problem in the past. The event trace will confirm the nature of the problem. EDIT: what ISY firmware is being used?
vphagura Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Thx Lee. Here is the Event log. I did delete the MorningLinc and factory reset it and then added it to the ISY while turning on the Event veiewer. I did clear the event viewer before this procedure. vphagura Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 It started working now. I think the problem was when I deleted it and factory reset it in my earlier attempts I did not choose the 3rd option while linking it again. Now it is fine and working, thanks for all your help and patience.
vphagura Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Even though this working fine now. I'm wondering if anyone else expereinced this behavior and wondering why this happened.
LeeG Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Was the MorningLinc added to a Scene recently? That can cause the problem. Beta 3.2.3 did some work in this area. If you have not moved to 3.2.5 (RC) I would suggest the upgrade if the MorningLinc is going to be added to Scenes. Also many devices now coming from Smarthome are I2CS devices (enhanced Insteon messaging) which require the 3.2.x images.
vphagura Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Thx for your response. My MorningLinc is not added to a scene and never has been. Few days ago it was working fine but suddenly one day it gave up. There was no chg in my network and I did not do anything surprising to any of the devices. But anyways, I'll try to upgrade my ISY to 3.2.5 soon. Currently I'm on 3.1.17.
LeeG Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 As an FYI for others (does not apply here) replacing the ISY PLM will cause the MorningLinc to stop working. When the new PLM is being used to change the link records in devices to the new PLM address, the MorningLinc will not accept commands from the new PLM address. It is necessary to go through a new Start Linking with option 3 "keep existing links" process for the MorningLinc to work with the new PLM. Recommend the MorningLinc be Factory reset before adding it to an ISY. The Factory reset does not lose the link to the lockset itself.
