RichTJ99 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Hi, I have an ISY994I/IR & I am having a strange issue, with one of my dual band dimmers (insteon). So I have Mobilinc, the java app, etc access. If I press on or off within the ISY java app, the status never changes but the lights do go on & off. If I use Mobilinc, the same thing happens (I can change hte lights). If i turn a light on with the ISY, while the ISY software doesnt register the change, Mobilinc registers the change immediately. What is going on do you think? The light does what it should but doesnt report back to the ISY. Thanks, Rich
LeeG Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 An issue with Anti Virus (Kaspersky, Avast, two examples) or firewall can block updates from the ISY to the Admin Console but it would affect all devices, not a single device. Check to see if other devices have the same issue.
RichTJ99 Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Lee, I am not running any antivirus at all on this machine. Not terribly secure but it does bypass all firewall issues. I just dont get why.
RichTJ99 Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Upon further checking, regular on & regular off do not work, fast on & fast off do work.
LeeG Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 That indicates the dimmer has been set with a long ramp rate. The Fast xxx commands ignore the ramp rate setting in the dimmer.
RichTJ99 Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 I just looked now & it says the ramp rate is .01 seconds. I did just change it to a longer period - the ISY adjusted, then I changed it back to 0 & it still isnt working properly. Only fast on / fast off work. Should I change out the switch for testing?
LeeG Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level 3 selected. Set the Ramp Rate to something fast such as 0.2. Post the event trace. What is the ISY firmware level?
RichTJ99 Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 ISY Firmware is 3.2.6 Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:24 AM : [ 1A 18 FC 1] RR 30 Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:24 AM : [All ] Writing 1 bytes to devices Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:24 AM : [1A 18 FC 1 ] Memory : Write dbAddr=0x0021 [1E] cmd1=0x2E cmd2=0x00 Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:24 AM : [iNST-TX-I2 ] 02 62 1A 18 FC 1F 2E 00 01 05 1E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 AE Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:24 AM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1A.18.FC 1F 2E 00 01 05 1E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 AE 06 (00) Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:25 AM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 1A.18.FC 1B.FD.15 2B 2E 00 (00) Fri 05/25/2012 09:06:25 AM : [standard-Direct Ack][1A.18.FC-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2
LeeG Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Thanks for the trace data. That is the expected command for updating the SwitchLinc Dimmer Local Ramp Rate. Unless using a Scene to turn the SwitchLinc On/Off which would involve a different Ramp Rate setting, I have to conclude the SwitchLinc is not working correctly. That command sequence correctly sets my SwitchLinc Dimmer Local Ramp Rate with firmware v.38
LeeG Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 You could try factory resetting the SwitchLinc Dimmer followed by a Restore Device to rebuild the link database.
LeeG Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I went back over this topic from the beginning. There is one aspect that does not fit into this being a device problem. To confirm, when you click the On button in the Admin Console the Admin Console does not show the device turning On but MobiLinc does show the device as turning On when the On button in the Admin Console is clicked? Also confirm that other devices do show correct state change when their respective On/Off buttons are clicked in the Admin Console.
RichTJ99 Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 Lee, I have an extra switchlinc dimmer. I am going to swap the switch for another I have & report back. I purchased about 100 switches of various styles from smarthome & a bunch of the on/off switchlincs have communication errors, its possible this dimmer is having an issue too.
RichTJ99 Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 Just a follow up, I replaced the dual band dimmer with another dual band dimmer & all is well again.
