joeko18
I had my ISY 994i working with my insteon network. I decided to do a factory reset on my ISY, PLM and all insteon devices. Now I can’t get any of my devices to link with the ISY. When I select add new insteon device, the linking box appears on the ISY control panel, back then when I press the link buttons on my devices, they do not get added to the ISY. On a side note, the reason that I did a factory reset on everything is because I was getting thousands of lines of X10 requests in my event viewer and log file. After reseting everything, I still have this problem! After reading this post, I know think that the X10 requests are just noise on the power line. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5443&hilit=x10+requests
LeeG
The X10 messages could be noise. If so that has to be resolved before the Insteon network can be expected to work reliably.
Brian H
Did you convert from an X10 system and maybe have some X10 Active Repeaters or Smarthome BoosterLincs still installed? I know many X10 active coupler repeaters don't play nice with Insteon signals. Do you have a Smartmeter from the power company or a TED5000 power use monitor? ELA
I do not have a TED but have read about them. Does anyone use them successfully in harmony with Insteon given this description? TED communicates over the existing power lines in your home using Power Line Carrier Technology. TED digital communication signals are imposed over a carrier frequency of 132 kHz which is transmitted during the zero crossing of the power line 60 Hz signal. Brian H
Both X10 and Insteon have TED problems. Besides the 132KHz power line signal. It is sent around every two seconds from what I have read in their Troubleshooting Manual. I have been told you can. If you use a hard wired power line filter on the branch circuit the TED equipment on and don't have any X10 or Insteon devices on the now isolated branch circuit.
