mrkenn Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 So I've got the new LED programmable lightbulbs installed as an "Unsupported Device 1.58", and they work great, sans one feature- when one of the kids turns off the normal switch, they lose power. Is there a way anyone knows that I could code based on the event "Lost Power" or "Gained Power" ? It would be nice if someone turned it off via a normal switch I could detect it and change its state to "On" when it regains power if the switch had been turned off while the light was in the off state. Currently, it remembers its last state and returns to that- that doesn't work very well if I've timer'd it off and then someone turns off the switch.
LeeG Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 There is an "If Status 'xxxx' is not responding" which could be interpreted as no power. When power is restored it will return to “If Status ‘xxxx’ is respondingâ€. Probably need a Query at some interval so the ISY knows when the device stops responding and when it comes back. Seems like a better approach is to install an Insteon switch in place of the standard switch. Rewire such that the LED bulb has unswitched power and let the new Insteon switch logically turn the LED bulb On/Off. That way the Insteon LED bulb is powered like any other Insteon device.
oberkc Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 In similar situations around my house, I simply remove the switch, disabling local control.
