Putting filter between KPL8 and dirty load??

I have a load controlled by a KPL8 that I suspect is causing some noise issues. Would a device like this be appropriate to install between the dirty load and the KPL8?

I understand that filters are usually used to block dirty loads from the rest of the house, but I am looking to block a load actually connected to an Insteon dimmer.

Thanks!

As long as the load is less than 5 amps and the filter is on the load side or even in the loads electrical box. It should work fine.

I know X10 users do it all the time and I think I have seen Insteon users also using them.

I have two installed just as you describe. Keep the filter on the load connection (red) and not the supply (black) and I expect you will be fine!

I had to use one of these in my undercounter lights in the kitchen ..

They are a set of four fluorescent fixtures that would turn on with an Insteon signal but they would not turn off.

When I installed this filter then I could properly control the lights both on and off with Insteon signals.

Thanks! yes, this is exactly my problem too. Load turns on, but then will not turn off consistently. Also, the ISY will read the "ON" command, but never the "OFF" command. I am guessing the load creates so much interference, the ISY cannot 'hear' the off command. It 'hears' the ON command because it gets that before the load kicks in.

I will give one of these a try!

Can turn On but not Off can be caused by the load being so noisy or a severe signal absorber. That when On the module can't be controlled.

So your theory sounds correct.
