jpoje Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I have a Dakota WR3000 receiver hooked up to EZ1061 controlled with ISY99i. I have had to relocate the Dakota receiver into the garage in order to get the Dakota motions outside to work consistently with the receiver. Problem is now, I cannot hear the chime from the Dakota receiver in my home very well. Can I install this Smarthome item # 50810 - I/O Linc - INSTEON Remote Chime Alert Kit inside my home, link it to the ISY99i and then have the Dakota Receiver (when it chimes) trigger this new Insteon Chime installed inside the house? Thanks for any advice, suggestions and/or simpler solutions anyone may have to offer.
LeeG Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Don't know about the range through the walls but conceptually it will work. Some folks have reported using piezo alarms connected to an I/O Linc Relay using the I/O Linc 5V. Would be less than half the cost and the I/O Linc would be inside. See this link for piezo alarm information viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9846&p=75101&hilit=piezo#p75101
jpoje Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Thanks for your quick response, I will check out the piezo alarm. Two more questions, as far as installing the chime kit, could be installed any where inside the home (it doesn't have to physically hook up to dakota receiver located in garage in any way)? and, as far as programming the chime kit in the ISY, I would simply program the following: If--status EZlincs A,B,C or D (for the Dakota) is on Then--set I/Olinc relay (for the new chime) to on Thanks again.
LeeG Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 That is correct; the I/O Linc can be anywhere. I assumed since the kit is a wireless chime the I/O Linc and chime transmitter would be distant. The entire kit, I/O Linc and chime equipment could be inside. Using an ISY Program is one approach with the coding as you describe. The other would be an ISY Scene with the four EZIO6I Inputs as Controllers with the I/O Linc Relay as a Responder. Using a Scene would have the chime come on slightly faster.
jpoje Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 THANK YOU very much for your assistance.
