SteveT
Anyone else experiencing issues with an OutletLinc after updating to 3.4 RC? During hurricane Sandy (and Irene) for that matter, the OutletLinc lost connection to the ISY, and needed to be removed/re-added. Last year, it worked ok. The unit responds locally, and can enter / exit linking mode. This time, whenever i try to add as a New Insteon Device, it fails with "Unable to Communicate with Insteon Engine v0.0" or something like that. I am automatically entering in the address, and automatically determining the model, as well as selecting 2473. Also, I was wondering under Advanced (dont have the console in front of me), changing the communication mode to legacy vs. automatic... did something change in v3.x? LeeG
Do not change the Advanced options. Should always be in Automatic unless directed by UDI to something else for diagnostic purposes. Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Use New INSTEON Device, enter the Insteon Address, Name of choice, and leave the Device Type set to default Auto Discover. Post the event log. LeeG
That is correct, the device did not respond. Double check Insteon address. One technique is to connect the OutletLinc (or any other wired device) to an Appliance cord, plugging the Appliance cord into the PLM plug point. That verifies the device works leaving a comm. problem at the original location. Could be interference or a coupling issue.
SteveT
Plugged the PLM "into" the outlet, and still no go. Removed from the wall, and hot-wired in, same problem. I can put it into linking mode, and it comes out of it, under 3 minutes, so it seems like its doing something, but cannot add to ISY. Since it worked before, is it possible to back-rev the isy99 to a previous version that i know worked? Or is there something wrong with the OutletLinc? Attached is a screenshot of the failed "add Insteon Device". Thanks, Steve
SteveT
Specifics around the OutletLinc are: v4.0 814 Model: 2473S
LeeG
The event trace shows a device that did not respond to the most basic of commands. It is not an ISY or PLM issue so moving to an earlier ISY image would not be useful. The only time the OutletLinc Set button is used would be a Start Linking sequence. In that sequence the PLM is in linking mode (PLM LED blinking) with the Set button press of the OutletLinc immediately completing the link between the OutletLinc and the PLM. It would not sit in linking mode for minutes unless there is no communication between the PLM and the OutletLinc. Is there any chance 0F.ED.81 is not the correct Insteon address for the OutletLinc. SteveT
I posted the incorrect picture of the address actually . But i have tried with the correct address on the unit, and still no go- I assume the OutletLinc is defective. It doesnt seem to be able to link, even with a LampLinc device when i try.. Thanks for your help LeeG-
