Featured Replies

Just received a new 2456S3 ApplianceLinc.

Hardware revision 4.9

Firmware as reported by my ISY994i v.42

I2CS Insteon Protocol

Has an internal beeper.

Like the original revisions. Starts in the On or Off state it was in at power restoration after a power loss.

  • 3 weeks later...

Can it be used strickly as a beeper??? Currently have to use X10 version, love it if you can use strickly as a beeper??

I don't know if it could be used to beep only.

It is very wimpy and you need to be real close to even hear it.

Now if you want an Insteon Beeper.

Some folks here have used an I/OLinc.

With a low voltage beeper to its 5 volt supply. Through its relay set to momentary On.

The beeper they used was small enough to mount right on the I/OLinc's terminal block.

Brian,

I also just received the same ApplianceLinc. How can you determine that a device has I2CS Insteon Protocol? I assume everthing purchased recently is I2CS but how do you know?

Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Right click node, select Diagnostics | Query Insteon Engine. The response to the 0D command will be a 02 or FF if an I2CS device. The following trace is from a device that is not I2CS. Response is 01

I2CS started being rolled out starting in March 2012.

So by now all are I2CS.

Here is the query Insteon Engine data from Event Viewer Level 3.

Notice I got back an 02. I2CS and the request was from an address in my link database.

Lee & Brian,

Thank you for enlightening me! Everything I own has been purchased within the last month so I know (and verified) they are all I2CS.

Is there a reference I can obtain to decipher information in the event viewer or is it just obtained through collaborating on this forum?

From browsing other recent posts I have learned that the INST-SRX 02-50 xx.xx.xx is a response from the device but I would like to understand what each line item means.

I am so satisfied in my decision to purchase an ISY, this forum and its members are the greatest resource ever, and I have to mention the amazing response and customer support I have already received from UD. :D
