Can't write updates to 2420m

Recommended Posts

I have several 2420m working just fine.

One of them, I can't get "fully" added no matter what I do.

They add, but still report as needing to write updates. I put the 2420 into "listen" mode and click write updates and get an error.

Here is log of me deleting the 2420, re-adding, and trying to write to devices.

Any input would be appreciated.

Communication with that Motion Sensor is unreliable. The only command to get a response has a Hops Left=0 count and the next three commands get no response from device.

The commands to verify how the link records need to be added fail to get any response which the ISY interprets as the device does not support the Extended command support. Correct assumption for the results traced but since the Motion Sensor only supports the Extended command the attempts by the ISY to write link records the old way fail. Also those attempts are not made for 4 minutes which would indicate they are being initiated by a Write Updates to Device request but after 4 minutes the Motion Sensor has timed out of linking mode so it cannot hear the commands at that point.

Move the Motion Sensor closer to a Dual Band device. Use New INSTEON Device, enter the Insteon Address, Name of choice, leaving Device Type set to Auto Discover. BEFORE clicking Ok, put Motion

Sensor into linking mode by pressing and holding Motion Sensor Set button until Red LED blinks continuously. Then click Ok.

Have the Event Viewer running at LEVEL 3 as was done before. Unless the battery is low the Motion Sensor should add with it near a Dual Band device.
