Voluntario Posted February 6, 2013 Share Posted February 6, 2013 ISY is 3.3.10 , and I trying to link a new Open/Close sensor rev 1.6 I Start Linking , and I got no messages of linking. I was looking at the PLM at the time I was pressing the set button on the O/C Sensor, and it flashes quicker for a second and come back normal flashing learning mode, but I got nothing on the screen. LeeG Posted February 6, 2013 Share Posted February 6, 2013 The Open/Close Sensor is an RF only battery operated device which is usually best added the other way. Use New INSTEON Device, enter the Insteon Address, Name of choice, Device Type at default Auto Discover. BEFORE clicking Okay, press Set button inside Open/Close Sensor until LED blinks continuously. Then click Okay on New INSTEON Device. Be sure Open/Close Sensor is near a Dual Band device that has good communication with the ISY PLM. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

LeeG Posted February 7, 2013 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Thats great. Thanks for posting back. The reason for doing it that way is battery powered RF only devices go to sleep to save battery life. When asleep the RF circuitry is Off so the ISY cannot communicate with it. Putting it into linking mode manually with the Set button keeps the device awake for approx 4 minutes, enough time to complete the New INSTEON Device add process.
