Is there a simple way to replace a dead RemoteLinc (won't recharge anymore) with a new one? Would love to just copy it and not have to program the new one from scratch. The dead one is also the older 2444A2 and the "new" one is a 2342-2 if that makes a difference.
Yes, that did get the outlet installed. However, have had multiple issues of it not working. Plug a lamp in, with the little magnet, it buzzes and the red light flashes.
Unfortunately, I am leaving for 3 days and won't be able to play with this until I return.
I had an electrical spike and one of my outlets died. I've been trying to install an OutletLink Dimmer that I purchased several years ago. Tried various ways to install it but keep getting the attached message. Any idea what this means.
This issue has gone on for a long time....years.... I have tried tracking it down several times and ultimately given up. I check it about every month and did again today so I thought I'd take another shot at any ideas from here.
I have no ELK products on my system. (Not even sure what ELK is) However when I run a log I get MANY Get Topology/ELK Errors listed. Between 8/3 and 8/9 I had over 4400 of these out of less than 6,000 total entries. They seem to come in batches of 3 every 6 minutes and last for any where form a single batch of 3 to 40 or 50 in groups of 3. I can't seem to lock down something that might be kicking it off or an entry that might cause it to stop.
HOWEVER, it hasn't appeared in the last 4 days. That's the longest it's gone without showing up. I've made no change to my system and nothing seemed to be odd before it stopped. MAYBE, for some reason it has actually been cured. I doubt it.
Does any of this make any sense?
Is there a simple way to copy the settings of a mini remote to a new one? One of my remotes won't hold a charge more than a few clicks. I wish they had replaceable batteries and it wasn't necessary to purchase new.
Thanks.
Michel:
Thanks for the reply. I checked "Disable..." in the Elk config as you suggested. (It was clear before) But I was unable to save it. I did close the program and restarted it and continue to get the error messages. I've attached a screen shot of the ELK page.

I am 100% Insteon but recently ran a log report and find many errors, each saying: [ELK-ERR}] Get Topology. They pop up 3 at a time every 6 minutes consistently. I don't have any ELK products. Any ideas what's going on?
I'll wait to see how it works.... Have had some issues with new products. Any idea when ISY might have it in their system?
External set button...FANTASTIC.
I also like the USB ability to power and repeat messages BUT most of my applications don't have me near a power source. Bummer.
Looking forward to reports once they come out.
I had one of my motion sensor die. (2842-222) Replaced battery (original seemed to have plenty of power)...tried reset...no response at all. It's quite old and gets a lot of work!
I tried to order another one from Smarthome and they say it's unavailable. Any idea if they just had a run on them or are they changing the product??
Thanks all. I found the resistor that I needed and all is working well. I agree that the best solution is the ON/OFF module but that does get expensive when you have a lot of the older Insteon products. I also wish that the ON/OFF module gave you pass through socket so you don't loose that availability.
Some time back I saw a post regarding a lamplinc or appliancelinc with very low voltage lights (like a single string of LED Christmas lights) that still stayed dimly lit even when they were "off". There was a comment that adding a resistor to a multi plug adapter would bring the amount of wattage up high enough to eliminate the issue. (Hope that isn't too confusing ) Does anyone know what size of resistor would work? Wattage/ohm etc.
