Would need a USB-DB9 adapter to go with that since the eisy doesn't have a DB9.

Finally have the solution.... Was told that SmartHome in their "lack of" wisdom, used an ethernet cable for their PLMs but it's not ethernet at all, it is serial. So UDevices jerry-rigged an ethernet port on their 994 so it would accept the serial data from what looks like an ethernet cable. The solution is to buy the (total=$38) serial adapter from UD which I will do. Not happy about it but I guess the only thing I can fault UD on is that this is not blatantly stated in the instructions. Yes, they do mention that a serial PLM needs the adapter but I never bothered to check the model number of my PLM since I was looking at an ethernet cable.

Agreed... I use linux as a router and provide my own DNS and time server. I have never added in a hard MAC address to assign an IP and really don't want to start now. I'm a grown-up. I think I can handle the assignments in the AC if it were possible.

I think you said I should leave a ticket before I give up on the eisy. I might be blind but I've looked for a place to start a ticket and I don't see one.

I've reloaded from all the reasonable backups.... but nothing has changed for controlling devices.

yes... Just switched back to the 994 and every dealing with the PLM is fine on the 994. So it the PLM is not the problem on the eisy.

I'm still stuck... Just did a factory reset and restore... everything looks good and it shows all the devices but I do not get status for each one and I can't control any device. Which means it is not talking to the PLM, which I just did a reset on. Yet the PLM works fine on the 994. This is my 4th day of trying to get the eisy going and I am about ready to consider it a lost cause. Everything looks good, but no cigar on the devices. It shouldn't be this tough to get it going. And the system busy is still cranking... forever.

I never got past the busy window.... And when I was excited for getting the eisy running, it was shortlived... After loading a backup from my 994, it showed all the connections but it wasn't talking to the PLM, so no actions could occur. I'm back on the 994.... <sigh>

Someone mentioned they had SSH'd into the box and were able to change the IP and port. Might try that after I make sure everything is working ok.

Yup. and if you had all that, you would be able to remotely access without using their setup. Maybe that's why they shut it out.

Hooray... that brought up the AC but nothing shows in the finder window. But maybe that's ok. I'm showing an ip addy of 0.0.0.0 in the config... that's not right Not sure what to do next but will try to start up again.

Well it was good while it lasted. I was on 5.3.4 with the eisy and wanted to make sure I had the latest... so I clicked on "upgrade packages" on the AC and that was all she wrote. Let it sit for a long time but now start.jnlp doesn't find the eisy. I hooked it up to a console and the box is alive but even with 20 years of linux behind me, I can't figure anyway to solve the problem. I had an awfully hard time to bring the AC the time that it did come up, so maybe I just need to fiddle with it a few more DAYS. Other than that, it is bricked.

Maybe a dumb question but I'm trying to find 5.5.2 for an update but am unable to locate it. Any help?

One thing that annoyed me about setting up the new UDMobile was that there was an offer for a trial of remote access. How-some-ever, there is NO option to decline the trial. One must accept it and I suppose somehow later cancel it.

Just upgraded from a 994 to eisy and after getting the eisy admin console going I see: 1) That the "system busy" popup has now been going for almost an hour (finishes one 100% and then starts on another) Not sure when it will quit if ever. 2) There is no mention in the admin console of the Insteon remote keypads ( 4 scene) or even mention of scenes. Wouldn't scenes be part of the rebuild using the ISY backup done before switching from 994 to eisy?

I'm using the start.jnlp which picks the IOX finder when it starts. How the heck does one make it pick ISY finder? Part of the complexity of getting things going.

I've spent all day trying to move from a 994 to the eisy and have yet to come even close. Running linux and am well versed in the network (yeh, I can find the IP address) and I got UD mobile running but it doesn't do much. Have not been able to restore my devices from the 994. When I did put a zip file over on a tablet, and told UD mobile to do the backup, it said it completed and then to restart UDmobile. Trying to do that, UDMobile won't start. Comes up with a quick screen with nothing on it and then quits the app. I normally run the 994 from a linux pc and I know that with linux one usually has to stand on their head and whistle dixie to get things to go, but I can't make it with the eisy. I read somewhere that "the eisy is more for tinkerers..." and I agree with that. But I have been working with computers large and small for 60 years (yes, I'm old) and I can't make the eisy go. BTW, when trying to start the admin console through java and the pc, the IOX Finder can't find the eisy even when I feed it the IP address.

Thanks IndyMike... I did just that.... before you posted and it worked like a charm. Not only that, but when I brought it up this afternoon, I didn't have to do anything special.... I guess it remembered the IP address but also the header said "ISY Finder" this time. Not sure that would be correct since I read that the ISY finder had been renamed to IOX finder. But in any event, problem solved.

Not windows or Mac, Linux Have done what was suggested... still get the error. Really pissy because I was hoping to start cooking my Xmas turkey using the ISY to start it in middle of night... But now my isy994 is no longer.
