  1. Geddy...thank you so much.....great advice...
  2. I have a large Insteon deployment that I'm migrating to eisy. I have only a hand full of z-wave (smoke detector, 4 or 5 wall plugs) and they are not included in any scenes or programs.....I was just playing/learning to use them. The instructions seem a little complex for the z-wave to eisy movements (I'm more of twice-a-year ISY end user, vs. knowledgeable expert) and so is there any harm to simply not migrating the z-waves, reset them to factory (is that possible? ) and then re-adding them to eisy when I've got that running ? ( I purchased the dongle) I had thoughts about moving to z-wave, but a number of very helpful forum posters convinced me there's still life in the Insteon/I3 platform for the next couple of years, so I don't see a near term need for z-wave migration....) Thoughts ? (Thank you in advance)
  3. Thank you everyone. Seems like the consensus is to remain Insteon/I3 and view z-wave/zigbee/Matter as interesting, but still not reliable/functional as Insteon/I3. Thank you again.
  4. I have about 100 Insteon devices on ISY994. I purchased an eisy w/zmatter dongle. My Insteon devices continue to fall (slowly) and I was wondering if the more experienced users have settled on a going-forward platform. I get eisy supports multiple worlds, and Matter is in theory 'the future,' but I'm looking for a reality view. Most of my platform is wired in wall plugs, switches, sensors. Matter still seems like it's running behind the promise, with view devices, Zigbee seems like it's go it's own set of problems, and I keep ending up at z-wave, but candidly after the rock solid, 100% connection rate of Insteon, my initial experiences with Z-wave world suggest fairly limited communication range, even with repeaters and a number of near-by devices to try to experience a fully deployed platform. Any advice for me ?
  5. Hi. Sorry for bother, can't find in wiki. I am preparing to move to eisy from ISY994. I have some older z-wave devices (mainly sensors) that don't respond. Ideally, I'd like to start clean on the eisy related to the z-wave...(I have 100+ Insteon, but just a handful of z-waves that I played w/when it looked like Insteon Inc was dead) Thank you in advance..
  6. Hi. I had a generalized internet outage (wifi, but also cell access ) recently, during which I discovered that UD Mobile was unable to log on. It could not resolve the URL name of my local ISY, and I got an error. Is there a best-practices or work around to allow the use of UD Mobile during generalized internet outages, i.e. like plugging in local IP vs. symbolic URL name etc ? Thank you in advance.
  7. Has anyone had any success interfacing a Konnected alarm panel to their ISY994 ? I've read all the various posts (mainly older) and it looks like others have explored it also. Any insight would be very much appreciated.
  8. Same...
  9. Given the shutdown of Smarthome, and the huge investment many of us have in Insteon, is there a consolidated place that lists and provides customer experiences of folks who can repair PLMs ? I know there are a number of articles, but to be candid, I'm just an old guy who uses the technology, not repair it, and would welcome the names/emails of those that perform quality repairs ?
  10. @MrBill.... I went back and tried various naming approaches... the inclusion of the '.1' etc worked fine, but as I added the work 'email' it failed. I went through all of the various documentation (like the cookbook and wiki) and could not find anything naming/variable/substitution reference to this issue. Thank you again for your help.
  11. During 1/2 time it came to me that my name of 'SLPEmail.1' might be causing an issue because it contains the word 'email' so I changed name to 'SLPOther' to remove the actual word 'email' and it now works as you all have suggested....maybe there are reserved words not allowed ?? Thank you again for taking so much time to educate me.
  12. Gentlemen, Thank you all very much. I'm slowing beginning to think interrupt-driven, vs. branching-looping, so my apologies for the stupid questions. Relative to the removing everything from the From: field, did that, re-saved etc, but the behavior is still the same, i.e. everyone works as expected and email notification arrives if I use default, but the second I put 'Content' field, it appears to do nothing. I erased everything and recreated everything to make sure I wasn't leaving odd in some cache, but same exact behavior. I'm using 5.3.4 firmware and UI if that matters.
  13. Hi... Thank you for your various help(s). I'm still stuck. I'm trying learn how to have motion sensor send email with specific content (I've got the substitution thing down...) however I can't figure out what is wrong the below "Send Notification..." line. I know the base notification wors when I use the "test" button option, it works, but only when all I have coded is "Send notification to "SLPUser" , but when I add to the end of the "send' line "Content SLPMail.1" it never arrives. The triggering part of the "if' statement works fine. The "SLPMail.1" entry and supporting screens are below, and I've saved and uploaded, enabled everything, and have also tried executing just the "Then" statement, and in all cases it works fine without the "Content" modifier but as soon as it's added, it fails. Below is how I coded the various supporting content screens: I'm obviously missing something very basic. Any suggestions would be appreciated
  14. @MrBill and DaveStlou....thank you so much. Great advice from both of you on how to think. I really appreciate your guidance. SLP
  15. @lilyoyo1 I think the wait is because I don't yet understand how it all works, and I was concerned that it might cycle through the program logic extremely fast, sending hundreds of texts etc. The sensor seems to go to 'on' for about 15 seconds, before it cycles back to off, so I picked a 60 wait. I think part of the issue is how I think about programming...I'm use to looping/branching etc, and I think I need to think more along triggering/interupt driven approach.
  16. Yes, I did the test button and got the text fairly quickly...
  17. Hi, Sorry for the elementary question, but after reading the Cookbook, I'm still lost. In the below program, when I add the the content 'MovementSensor' (which I defined in Email customization screen) the notification fails. Being an old Cobol/Assembler programmer I was looking for a way to trace the below. I've looked at the various logs and don't see anything that looks like a way of tracing of the execution of program. The below works if I remove the content 'MovementSensor' so I was trying to figure out why... Thank you in advance.
  18. @lilyoyo1 Thank you.. .
  19. Hi, All all ISY994i Programs running simultaneously and independent ? For example, does a 'Wait 1 minute' program line stop all programs for 1 minute, or just the program it's in ? Thank you in advance..
  20. @Geddy....wow...thank you so much....I really appreciate your help and the time you took to put it to print. Thank you again....
  21. @Kentinada Hi...I've been searching the various UDI wiki's and Forums looking for instructions on how to send a simple 1 line text triggered off of one my sensors. I understand it's really sending an email, and plan to use Verizon ( xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com) and I believe I understand the SMTP filters, but what I can't figure out is how to associate the sensor trigger to the action. Would you mind giving me a sentence or two to head me in the right direction. Thank you in advance...
  22. Mecheng70 ....that's my fall back plan...was hoping to cheat and get a quick and simple solution. Thank you.
  23. Hi, I don't think it exists, but would anyone know of a sound activated z-way sensor ? I have a couple of older 'legacy' alarms that have beeping (like old driveway sensor) and before I open it to wire in contact relay etc, thought I'd go the quick and dirty method of triggering off sound. Thanks in advance
