  1. On a hunch, I just switched it from http (and port 443) to http (and port 80) even though the pushover API says it must be sent securely. Well, apparently not because it worked fine. So there must be something happening with the ISY's use of ssl. I'd still like to get it to work securely, though. Any ideas?
  2. Thanks for that link Brian. If it's time out, that's really strange becuase it happens within 1/2 a second (even when I have the timeout set to 15 seconds -- 15000 ms). I have also used the firefox plug in Resource Test and the post data above works fine, so it has to be something commuication-related.
  3. I've been trying to get network resources working with pushover https://pushover.net/api. I have a key and all, but nothing works. The result in the error log is this: Sun 2012/12/30 01:46:42 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:03:15 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:06:41 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:06:59 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:07:35 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:14:12 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:16:20 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:16:47 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:19:52 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 The PUT I am trying to run looks like this (my api key and user key have been changed) POST /1/messages.json HTTP/1.1 Host: api.pushover.net:443 Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 Content-Length: 133 User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 token=XXXXXXXXXXX&user=xxxxxxxxxxx&title=test&priority=1&message=test+message I have timeout set for 2000 ms (and have tried 15000 just to see). What is -170001 error, and please, could you post a list of these errors somewhere?
  4. Thanks for your advice guys. I only used the lamplinc (at 100%) because I had one I wasn't using. I have an appliancelinc controlling a table lamp (with a CFL bulb). I will swap them with each other and see how that works. If that doesn't work, I will try the filterlinc. FWIW, this is the first time I've had any problem with TED and Insteon coexisting, so if anyone has considered an TED, they seem to be ok together. Thanks again for your help!
  5. Let me first off say this is neither a problem the ISY or with Insteon, but I am hoping someone here can offer an idea how to fix it. I use two things over the powerline: Insteon and "The Energy Detective" (TED 5000). I am sure many of you are aware of what TED does - it monitors your whole house power and sends that data over the powerline a gateway device not unlike the ISY. Both the ISY and the TED are in the same room. Yesterday, I put a motion sensor and a lamplinc which controls an air filter in our furnace room where our cats' litterobox is located. Five minutes after the cats have left the room, the ISY turns on the air filter for ten minutes. I noticed today that absolutely zero data was coming through TED while the air filter was running. I could still control the air filter via insteon commands. Turning off the air filter instantaneously restored TED communications. It was 100% repeatability - turning on the fan killed TED comms, turning off the fan immediatley restored it. Clearly, the air filter's motor is introducing some sort of noise which is making TED communication impossible. I have seen references to isolation filters here for Insteon; is it possible that this sort of filter would work here too? Where do you buy them and what do you recommend? Thanks for any help.
  6. It's probably not the product - it could be a simple case of noise generated by the garage door opener's motor (which is pretty large) simply doesn't allow the signal to pass through. TS99's idea works by waiting for the motor to stop running and requerying it.
  7. I love this idea!
  8. Have you guys considered buying the Networking Module for the ISY? It has a wake-on-LAN function. You could then wake any computer in a program.
  9. I keep seeing that I need to "clear my java cache" when I upgrade to a new version, but I've never seen anything that explains what this is (and I didn't want to comb through the 6000 or so posts that match that search ) Is this a browser function or a java function? In Windows, the Java Control panel app has a "Temporary Internet Files" that says: "Files you use in Java applications are stored in a special folder for quick execution later. Only advanced users should delete files or modify these settings." If I click "view" I am given an option to delete files. Is this what's meant by clearing the java cache? Is there any browser-related clearing that needs to be done as well?
  10. Ok, so to see if I understand what is going on (and to see if you understand what is going on )... You can set the timeout ONLY to be as short as the Off timeout on the MS, right? That is, if you set the 'For 15 minutes' to 'For 1 Second', the lights will go out at 5 minutes (which is what you have your MS timeout configured for) +1 second. You can configure it any number of seconds/minutes/hours longer then 5 minutes but not shorter, am I right? Yep, that's exactly it. With the off program above, anytime (day or evening) someone is in the room you will be sending Off commands for the scene every time the MS is tripped then times out, won't you? Remember, the "Upstairs Occupied" program isn't motion - it's 15 minutes (in my case) after the last motion. But yes, it does send the off commands even during the day. But I figured that wouldn't be a bad thing. Incidentally you had asked about Jumper 5 - that's remote management, right? I have it set to "On." I don't know that it matters one way or another.
  11. Brad, I certainly understand! I think we are using the motion sensors differently. You are using them as a quick use of lights, and I'm using them more as a "my house is aware of me" thing. There are certainly two different applications. I don't find the ISY99 delay to be too bad in this case because they lights only really go off when we are not home. Opening any door triggers one of the sensors, and by the time I'm in and have my shoes off, the lights are on and ready. Of course my cats & dog also mean the lights are on frequently anyway I did increase the timeout (as I indicated in the post just before this one) to five minutes to help with battery life. But I thought there was very little savings by turning off the OFF command. Your command about the unreliability of the low batter indicator made me realize something. I can write a couple of programs that notify me if more than x hours has passed without turning on (for example, 24 hours). That would be another indicator of a low battery.
  12. I like your approach. Out of curiosity, what is your Timeout set to? Also, what are your jumper settings on the MS? Thanks! I wanted to be able to capture any motion at any time of day and do things with it (lights, notifications, etc). The timeout is set at 5 minutes, day & night both operational, and ON & OFF commands both set.
  13. I wish that there was a jumper for this. The problem I've found with it is that while it doesn't trigger another on command during the countdown, it extends the timeout period each time it detects motion. Consider the following: 1. MS is in on-only mode with 1 minute timeout. 2. ISY program responds to MS sensor detection and turn off lights after 5 minutes. 3. Motion triggered, light turns on, both MS and ISY countdown begins. 4. Motion continues in monitored area for over 5 minutes. MS keeps resetting its timer each time it sees motion. As a result, the MS never sends another on command that ISY can hear. 5. ISY timeout expires, leaving person in the dark. Because of this, I do not use the ISY to manage my MS timeout periods. I absolutely make use of the OFF command, and I'm curious what I'm missing here. My programming may be more complex than it needs to be, but I think its a lot more flexible. I do not have any of the motion sensors linked directly to lights. I have two motion sensors upstairs. If either of these senses motion, I want to keep the "ambiance" lighting on during the evening hours. So I have several programs for occupancy. The first is upstairs Motion: If Status 'Motion Detector Kitchen' is On Or Status 'Motion Detector Living Rm' is On Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Notice that I am using Status and not Control. So if either status is "ON" then there is motion upstairs. The next program is called "Upstairs Occupied" and it looks like this: If Program 'Upstairs Motion' is True Or From Last Run Time for 'Upstairs Motion' For 15 minutes Then Else You'll notice that I can now set my timeout based on the last time EITHER motion sensor turned off. So if I want them to turn off right away (when the "OFF" command comes) I simply set the "For 15 minutes" to a lower value (1 second, for example). Finally, the program that actually turns the lights on... If Program 'Upstairs Occupied' is True And Program 'Evening' is True Then Set Scene 'Sunset Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') ... and off If Program 'Upstairs Occupied' is False Then Set Scene 'Sunset Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Ok, there is one more program - "Evening" which part of a group of "Time Variables" that I use to make things easier to manage. The "Evening" program can be something as simple as "From Susnet -15 minutes to 11:30 PM. After a few weeks of tweaking, this approach has worked well for me.
  14. I am getting dozens of entries like this: uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 This happened before 2.8.8 occasionally, but it seems to be more frequent now. Also, most times that I log into the java admin console, the status is "System Busy" (these are probably related). Any thoughts?
  15. I seem to have lost my networking module (which I had purchased a short time ago). After upgrading to 2.7.8, I decided that I may as well upgrade to the pro version (which I dutifully paid for and installed) Now I have no networking configuration tab. Did I do something wrong?
