  1. On a hunch, I just switched it from http (and port 443) to http (and port 80) even though the pushover API says it must be sent securely. Well, apparently not because it worked fine. So there must be something happening with the ISY's use of ssl. I'd still like to get it to work securely, though. Any ideas?
  2. Thanks for that link Brian. If it's time out, that's really strange becuase it happens within 1/2 a second (even when I have the timeout set to 15 seconds -- 15000 ms). I have also used the firefox plug in Resource Test and the post data above works fine, so it has to be something commuication-related.
  3. I've been trying to get network resources working with pushover https://pushover.net/api. I have a key and all, but nothing works. The result in the error log is this: Sun 2012/12/30 01:46:42 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:03:15 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:06:41 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:06:59 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:07:35 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:14:12 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:16:20 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:16:47 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 Sun 2012/12/30 03:19:52 PM System -170001 [TCP-Conn] -256/-140002, Net Module Rule: 2 The PUT I am trying to run looks like this (my api key and user key have been changed) POST /1/messages.json HTTP/1.1 Host: api.pushover.net:443 Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 Content-Length: 133 User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 token=XXXXXXXXXXX&user=xxxxxxxxxxx&title=test&priority=1&message=test+message I have timeout set for 2000 ms (and have tried 15000 just to see). What is -170001 error, and please, could you post a list of these errors somewhere?
  4. Thanks for your advice guys. I only used the lamplinc (at 100%) because I had one I wasn't using. I have an appliancelinc controlling a table lamp (with a CFL bulb). I will swap them with each other and see how that works. If that doesn't work, I will try the filterlinc. FWIW, this is the first time I've had any problem with TED and Insteon coexisting, so if anyone has considered an TED, they seem to be ok together. Thanks again for your help!
  5. Let me first off say this is neither a problem the ISY or with Insteon, but I am hoping someone here can offer an idea how to fix it. I use two things over the powerline: Insteon and "The Energy Detective" (TED 5000). I am sure many of you are aware of what TED does - it monitors your whole house power and sends that data over the powerline a gateway device not unlike the ISY. Both the ISY and the TED are in the same room. Yesterday, I put a motion sensor and a lamplinc which controls an air filter in our furnace room where our cats' litterobox is located. Five minutes after the cats have left the room, the ISY turns on the air filter for ten minutes. I noticed today that absolutely zero data was coming through TED while the air filter was running. I could still control the air filter via insteon commands. Turning off the air filter instantaneously restored TED communications. It was 100% repeatability - turning on the fan killed TED comms, turning off the fan immediatley restored it. Clearly, the air filter's motor is introducing some sort of noise which is making TED communication impossible. I have seen references to isolation filters here for Insteon; is it possible that this sort of filter would work here too? Where do you buy them and what do you recommend? Thanks for any help.
  6. It's probably not the product - it could be a simple case of noise generated by the garage door opener's motor (which is pretty large) simply doesn't allow the signal to pass through. TS99's idea works by waiting for the motor to stop running and requerying it.
  7. I love this idea!
  8. Have you guys considered buying the Networking Module for the ISY? It has a wake-on-LAN function. You could then wake any computer in a program.
  9. I keep seeing that I need to "clear my java cache" when I upgrade to a new version, but I've never seen anything that explains what this is (and I didn't want to comb through the 6000 or so posts that match that search ) Is this a browser function or a java function? In Windows, the Java Control panel app has a "Temporary Internet Files" that says: "Files you use in Java applications are stored in a special folder for quick execution later. Only advanced users should delete files or modify these settings." If I click "view" I am given an option to delete files. Is this what's meant by clearing the java cache? Is there any browser-related clearing that needs to be done as well?
  10. Ok, so to see if I understand what is going on (and to see if you understand what is going on )... You can set the timeout ONLY to be as short as the Off timeout on the MS, right? That is, if you set the 'For 15 minutes' to 'For 1 Second', the lights will go out at 5 minutes (which is what you have your MS timeout configured for) +1 second. You can configure it any number of seconds/minutes/hours longer then 5 minutes but not shorter, am I right? Yep, that's exactly it. With the off program above, anytime (day or evening) someone is in the room you will be sending Off commands for the scene every time the MS is tripped then times out, won't you? Remember, the "Upstairs Occupied" program isn't motion - it's 15 minutes (in my case) after the last motion. But yes, it does send the off commands even during the day. But I figured that wouldn't be a bad thing. Incidentally you had asked about Jumper 5 - that's remote management, right? I have it set to "On." I don't know that it matters one way or another.
  11. Brad, I certainly understand! I think we are using the motion sensors differently. You are using them as a quick use of lights, and I'm using them more as a "my house is aware of me" thing. There are certainly two different applications. I don't find the ISY99 delay to be too bad in this case because they lights only really go off when we are not home. Opening any door triggers one of the sensors, and by the time I'm in and have my shoes off, the lights are on and ready. Of course my cats & dog also mean the lights are on frequently anyway I did increase the timeout (as I indicated in the post just before this one) to five minutes to help with battery life. But I thought there was very little savings by turning off the OFF command. Your command about the unreliability of the low batter indicator made me realize something. I can write a couple of programs that notify me if more than x hours has passed without turning on (for example, 24 hours). That would be another indicator of a low battery.
  12. I like your approach. Out of curiosity, what is your Timeout set to? Also, what are your jumper settings on the MS? Thanks! I wanted to be able to capture any motion at any time of day and do things with it (lights, notifications, etc). The timeout is set at 5 minutes, day & night both operational, and ON & OFF commands both set.
  13. I wish that there was a jumper for this. The problem I've found with it is that while it doesn't trigger another on command during the countdown, it extends the timeout period each time it detects motion. Consider the following: 1. MS is in on-only mode with 1 minute timeout. 2. ISY program responds to MS sensor detection and turn off lights after 5 minutes. 3. Motion triggered, light turns on, both MS and ISY countdown begins. 4. Motion continues in monitored area for over 5 minutes. MS keeps resetting its timer each time it sees motion. As a result, the MS never sends another on command that ISY can hear. 5. ISY timeout expires, leaving person in the dark. Because of this, I do not use the ISY to manage my MS timeout periods. I absolutely make use of the OFF command, and I'm curious what I'm missing here. My programming may be more complex than it needs to be, but I think its a lot more flexible. I do not have any of the motion sensors linked directly to lights. I have two motion sensors upstairs. If either of these senses motion, I want to keep the "ambiance" lighting on during the evening hours. So I have several programs for occupancy. The first is upstairs Motion: If Status 'Motion Detector Kitchen' is On Or Status 'Motion Detector Living Rm' is On Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Notice that I am using Status and not Control. So if either status is "ON" then there is motion upstairs. The next program is called "Upstairs Occupied" and it looks like this: If Program 'Upstairs Motion' is True Or From Last Run Time for 'Upstairs Motion' For 15 minutes Then Else You'll notice that I can now set my timeout based on the last time EITHER motion sensor turned off. So if I want them to turn off right away (when the "OFF" command comes) I simply set the "For 15 minutes" to a lower value (1 second, for example). Finally, the program that actually turns the lights on... If Program 'Upstairs Occupied' is True And Program 'Evening' is True Then Set Scene 'Sunset Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') ... and off If Program 'Upstairs Occupied' is False Then Set Scene 'Sunset Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Ok, there is one more program - "Evening" which part of a group of "Time Variables" that I use to make things easier to manage. The "Evening" program can be something as simple as "From Susnet -15 minutes to 11:30 PM. After a few weeks of tweaking, this approach has worked well for me.
  14. I am getting dozens of entries like this: uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 uuid:00 Fri 01/01/2010 11:34:58 PM System -5011 This happened before 2.8.8 occasionally, but it seems to be more frequent now. Also, most times that I log into the java admin console, the status is "System Busy" (these are probably related). Any thoughts?
  15. I seem to have lost my networking module (which I had purchased a short time ago). After upgrading to 2.7.8, I decided that I may as well upgrade to the pro version (which I dutifully paid for and installed) Now I have no networking configuration tab. Did I do something wrong?
  16. Any chance it's still coming out today?
  17. I am interested too...
  18. I am definitely excited about getting variables. That will largely solve this admittedly-minor problem. But I did confirm the behavior. Consider this: 1) You have to programs: ConditionA and ConditionB. They are used as true/false variables. 2) You have another program ConditionStatus which says If ConditionA is true or conditionB is true. So if either condition is true, ConditionStatus is true. 3) You have a third program which "does stuff." Let's say if ConditionStatus is True Turn On Lights Else Turn Off Lights. Here's the problem. Condition A goes true setting ConditionStatus True. The lights are turned on. Then ConditionB goes true. ConditionStatus is still true (the state never changed), but the lights get turned on again.

    Logic question

I am working with motion sensors and still trying to find the best combination of flexibility and keeping traffic low. One of the things I am struggling with is what happens in this case. I have a program called "Upstairs Motion" which is used in a lot of other areas. it's simply this: if Status Kitchen Motion Detector is On Or Status Living Room Motion Detector is On then else I use this as a variable. However, here's the problem I seem to be running into: when the living room detector is already on, and someone walks into the kitchen, it re-runs the program and triggers all the dependencies even though the True/False state didn't change. This behavior seems to be causing all sorts of additional traffic. Any suggestions? On an unrelated note, any word on when alpha people can get a hold of the 2.7.7/2?
  20. tahoe - this was working before I started cleaning up with the scenes once I had the isy99 up and running (I had previously linked the switches directly at the switch the "old school" way). Here's something else interesting that may complicate things. When I said that the hallway switch didn't turn the recessed lights on, I was testing this by turning the hallway switch to "On" through the ISY interface. I certainly heard the relay click each time I tried this. I assumed this was the exact same things as physically turning the switch on at the paddle. But I happened to by walking by the switch to the kitchen and out of habit hit the switch directly - viola, the lights turned on as they are programmed to do. That means it's actually working the way I want it to - but it is surprising to me that turning on the switch physically results in different behavior than turning on the switch through the ISY. Additionally, the sink light (which is not part of the scene) still turns offwhen I turn the scene off in the ISY's interface. Perhaps that's even more strange: the scene was created in the ISY interface and the two switches added with the ISY interface as well. The kitchen light turns off ONLY when I turn off the scene directly in the ISY interface. If I turn of the physical switches directly, the sink light does not turn off. So it seems like an ISY problem not a switch problem.
  21. Now it just gets more weird. I started over creating a new scene called "Kitchen Recessed Scene" I added "Kitchen Recessed Garage" and "Kitchen Recessed Hallway" as controllers. Turning the scene on turns on the lights. Turning the "kitche recessed garage" on turns on the lights. As before, turning on the "kitchen recessed hallway" does nothing. So it still doesn't work. But it's worse than that. I have another insteon-controlled - the "Kitchen Sink" which is completely unrelated to this whole thing. When I turn the SCENE off from the ISY, not only do the desired kitchen recessed lights turn of, SO DOES THE KITCHEN SINK! It's not in the scene at all! Keep in mind this is a brand new scene that I created from scratch, and somehow it is turning of another light that is totally unrelated to the two switches which were added to the scene! In fact, the sink light does not turn off when I press either of the scene switches either, so it's being done entirely by the scene. I have to be missing something. This stuff just can't be all that difficult, right?
  22. One light, two switches that control the light. I have two Icon on/off v.28 switches where a three-way circuit used to be. I replaced the three-way switches with the Insteons and did the programming via the "set on the switch" method a few years ago. This all worked fine so that either switch would control the lights. Once I got the ISY-99 I started from scratch. I delete any scenes referencing these switches. The "Kitchen Recessed Garage Door" switch controls the load. The "Kitchen Recessed Hallway" switch has no load. I created a new scene "Kitchen recessed scene" and added the "kitchen recessed garage door" as a responder since it controls the load. Everything works fine (turning the scene on turns the switch on) I next added the "kitchen recessed hallway" switch as a Controller. Remember, this one has no load. The ISY-99 did a "system busy" and returned in a miute ore so and had added it to the scene. But the hallway switch still will not turn on the scene (or the light). When I press the switch, it turns on in the ISY. But it does not turn the scene on, and it does not turn the garage switch on. If I turn on the garage switch, it turns on the scene and the hallway switch. What the hell am I missing?
  23. Thanks...I have lots of learning to do
  24. Hi,I just started working with my ISY-99 (thanks to the guy at UD - the modem was indeed the problem). I have a TiVo on a schedule from 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM with an appliancelinc. What I'd like to do is tie a button on a keypadlinc to that TiVo: 1) If the button is ON, the TiVo doesn't turn off at 11:00. This would allow a one-night override for scheduling shows in the middle of the night. I would assume that when the TiVo turned back on at 5:00 PM, it would also turn off the keypadlinc's light. 2) If the keypadlinc is off and it is turned on, turn on the TiVo. This would be useful for recording or watching TiVo prior to it's normal turn on time of 5:00. 3) If the light is on, and it is turned off, it would do nothing other than cancel the override in #1. Is this even possible?
