  1. Hi Jimbo, I had the Elk Module along with an ISY994/Insteon/M1Gold for many years in my last house, all of which stayed with the house when we sold it. I now have an eisy/Zmatter with Z-wave in my current house and an M1Gold. I have been an ISY/UDI customer since 2007. I did a lot with my ISY in my last house but I do not have any prior experience with Polyglot/Nodeservers. I want to be able to use the M1G Status (Away, Stay, etc) in the "IF" portion of eisy programs to turn on or off appropriate Z-wave devices. Will I be able to do this with your Elk Nodeserver? If so, I would be grateful if you would point me in the right direction to accomplish an “IF ELK …” the first time. Thank you, Steve
  2. May we all be blessed with a great eisy experience for many many years with no points of failure!
  3. Yes but I wrote "vulnerable single point of failure". In the 14 years that I had ISY/Insteon in my last house, I NEVER had a single ISY failure but did have MANY PLM failures.
  4. I will not be migrating anything because my ISY, PLM and all the devices it controlled are in the house that I sold. I am about to buy an eISY for my new house, in which I will be using Z-wave because I do not have a PLM and also do not want to be dependent on a vulnerable single point of failure. I would greatly appreciate answers to: Is the eISY Z-wave enabled as is or is that one of the things that the Matter is for? Is there anything else that I need to buy besides the Z-wave devices so that I can move forward? Thank you, Steve
  5. On the new insteon.com site on their "Technology Compared" page, they state that the "Maximum Theoretical Network Size" is unlimited for Insteon and is 232 for Z-wave. It also states that the "Maximum Practical Network Size" is 1000s for Insteon but only 30-35 for Z-wave. I understand that a matrix like this is typically self serving but is there any merit to a limit of 35 Z-wave devices? If so, what happens if there are 50 or 60 or more Z-wave devices? Thank you, Steve
  6. Thank you @lilyoyo1but I have already tried that. The manual dimming will only dim about half way which is one of the symptoms of driver incompatibility.
  7. @oskrypuch I sincerely appreciate your advice based on the info that I provided. If my plan was to install everything now and then migrate to eisy in November, it would be great advice that I would have followed. However, my objective is to test out dimmer driver compatibility between the Z-wave switch(es) that i am considering and the specific LED of which dozens will be installed by the builder. The dimmer info is unavailable for this LED and I did not have a choice to select a different LED. I am very grateful that the great tech support at Zooz advised me that their Zen72 is TRIAC compatible and their Zen77 is MOSFET compatible. Zooz was the only one who raised this concern. If incompatible there can be humming and/or limited dimming range. I am also grateful to @lilyoyo1 and @Bumbershoot for suggesting Zooz ZEN7x in reply to my initial post in April. Where on the forum should I post this info about dimmer driver compatibility so others can avoid the potential problem of using a great switch but that is incompatible? Steve
  8. Does anyone have a ISY994i/ZW that is not being used because now using a Polisy? I will be getting an Eisy in November when available. That is also approx when my new house will be completed. At that time, would be the first Z-wave devices I have ever installed. If possible, I would prefer to start my Z-wave learning curve now on a ISY994i/ZW and have a running start when my Eisy and house are ready for Z-wave. Perhaps we can figure out a barter that works or a reasonable price for me to buy or rent your ISY/ZW for 2 months. Please message me if you are interested or post here if you have a suggestion. Thank you, Steve
  9. With the Eisy and the ZMatter, what can I do when I have both that I would not be able to do with just the eisy?
  10. I did not ask this question in that post. The closest answer was even more general than the general reference in my question.
  11. I have seen general references to Z-wave scenes not being as good as Insteon scenes. What are the differences and is there anything that Z-wave can do that Insteon cannot? (other than stay in business). I have about 14 years of experience with ISY/Insteon in my last house and have zero experience with Z-wave which is what I am planning to use in my new house. Thank you
  12. Can the Polisy be wall mounted? Where can I buy an extra Polisy power supply? Thank you, Steve
  13. Why is the Aoetech Smart Switch 7 called a switch when it appears to be an outlet?
  14. My last house was controlled by ISY for about 15 years and had over 100 Insteon switches, keypads, outlets, sensors, irrigation, etc. I did all of it myself with exemplary tech support from Michel in the early days. I want my next house, foundation just started, to be much smarter with ZWave and controlled by Polisy Pro. Other than what I have read here, I do not have any knowledge of ZWave or Polisy so I have many questions and your answers will be greatly appreciated. My builder agreed to have his electrician install smart switches, that I designate, instead of installing generic switches that I would need to remove/replace. Which ZWave 700 switch do you think is best? Does a Polisy still needs to run along side an ISY or does it contains all of the ISY functionality? Does a Polisy need a PLM or does it have a non-Smarthome way to connect? What is the difference between Polisy and Policy Pro? Is there a link for the companies like Tesla whose products can be controlled by a Polisy and sensors accessible to Polisy? Is anyone controlling Trane Wave thermostats along with weather sensors? Thank you, Steve
