  2. BTW, once I removed the statement about Light value in the program, there was alot less traffic. In fact only the four commands were listed. Maybe its the Climate module?
  3. Ok, I would have to say yes, there is alot of traffic to turn on four lights. But it seems the lights turn on just fine but then it seems that the ISY also goes into the Climate module and has some traffic there. I do have a condition about light value from the Climate module in the program to turn on the Porch lights. Could that be a problem? Here is a copy of the Events-Log: Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:04 PM : [ B BE D3 1] DON 0 Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:04 PM : [ B BB 89 1] ST 255 Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:04 PM : [ 13 3E 67 1] ST 255 Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:04 PM : [ B BE D3 1] ST 255 Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:04 PM : [ B BB 7B 1] ST 255 Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 5] -7000.000000 Weather - Temperature Rate = -0.7 °F Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 6] 660000.000000 Weather - Humidity = 66 % Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 12] 60000.000000 Weather - Wind Average Speed = 6 mph Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 13] 80000.000000 Weather - Wind Direction = SSE Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 18] 43000.000000 Weather - Light = 4.3 Mon 03/01/2010 06:12:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 19] -91000.000000 Weather - Light Rate = -9.1 Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 1] 642000.000000 Weather - Temperature = 64.2 °F Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 5] -6000.000000 Weather - Temperature Rate = -0.6 °F Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 7] 30000.000000 Weather - Humidity Rate = 3 Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 11] 30000.000000 Weather - Wind Speed = 3 mph Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 12] 50000.000000 Weather - Wind Average Speed = 5 mph Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 13] 60000.000000 Weather - Wind Direction = ESE Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 14] 70000.000000 Weather - Wind Average Directi = SE Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 18] 40000.000000 Weather - Light = 4 Mon 03/01/2010 06:13:46 PM : [MOD 2 2 1 19] -78000.000000 Weather - Light Rate = -7.8
  4. 1. Load is CFL bulb on each 2. The relays are all v2.C 3. No 4. I'll check that now! Thanks!!!
  5. Maybe my problem is with the way I built the Porch Scene. I made each of the four SwitchLinc's a Controller in the Scene. Is that correct?
  6. I haven't tried that since I set it up right from the start to be in a group. I have four porch lights and all have their oun SwitchLinc. I wanted them to operate as a 4-way so I put them all in a Scene and made all four SwitchLinc's Controllers. I can try tonight but I would think that if I removed the Porch Main from the remainder of the Porch Scene, it would operate individually. I may have confused the issue because I was calling my Porch light by one name when in fact, I was referring to the whole Scene. So I guess you are asking if I remove the Porch Scene from the larger Scene, would I still get errors? I can try that too! I wonder if I were to give temporary permission to log on to my ISY, maybe you could look around at my programming and find the problem?
  7. There may be another issue. I didn't mention that the Porch lights are running on a program that turns them on at sunset and off at 9pm. So I wrote the program differently. First I seperated the program into two seperate programs. One to turn the lights on, the other to turn them off. However, in the program to turn them off I wrote the conditions this way: If Status 'Porch' is On And( Status 'KPLB' is Off And Status 'KPLC' is Off and Status 'KPL Main' is Off ) And Time is 9:05:00 Then Set 'Porch' Off
  8. The only thing I can see is that there are four SwitchLinc's in the Porch Scene and three of them are dimmers and one is a relay. On the dimmers, I have the ramp rate at minimum (0.1 sec). In the Porch Scene, all the SwitchLinc's are set as Controllers where in the larger Outdoor Scene, they are Responders. It happened again last night. There must be something wrong with the way I setup my porch scene. Maybe I should link the four SwitchLinc's the way they would be linked if I didn't have the ISY?
  9. I have a Scene setup to control my porch lights as well as my tree lights and another light. Last night, I turned on my porch lights by their local switch (which is part of a "porch light" Scene to connect 4 Switchlinc's together). The "Outside Lights" Scene is controlled by a KPL button. Once I turned on the porch light, my system became unstable, giving me alot of error messages such as "Can't connect to device "Porch Light". When I turned all the lights off by the KPL and then back on with the KPL, everything returned to normal. So what I have is a Scene within a Scene with the KPL controlling a large Scene (with the Porch Scene included) and the individual porch Switchlinc's controlling a smaller "Porch" Scene (BTW, I had to include all 4 Switchlinc's into the KPL Scene because the Switchlinc's act as a Responder in that Scene whereas they are Controllers in the Porch Scene). Is there a better way to setup the Scenes so I don't have instability? I hope this all made sense. I know its confusing and it is early but I want to work this out. I'm sure I made a mistake in creating Scene's.
  10. I thought 2.7.11 was an official release. Am I wrong?
  11. Thanks guys!! I'm learning alot hanging around here!!!
  12. I actually tried something else and it seems to work. I created a folder and just wrote four programs. If status 'light' is on Then wait 10 minutes set 'light' 75% The next program: If status 'light' is 75% Then wait 10 minutes set 'light' 50% and so on. It's working. I didn't want to ramp down the light because it is one of those low consumption florescent bulbs and I didn't want it to flicker. Thanks!!!
  13. I tried to program my daughter's nightstand lamp in the following manner: If status 'light' is not Off Then wait 10 minutes set 'light' 75% wait 10 minutes set 'light' 50% wait 10 minutes set 'light' 25% wait 10 minutes set 'light' Off The reason I ask is I tried it but it stops at 75%. Is there a way to do what I'm trying to do? Thanks!
  14. Hi. I have firmware 2.7.10 and wonder why I can't automatically update to 2.7.11? Do I have to manually update? I thought it showed up in the Help section. Thanks!
  15. sorry for all my questions. If I have a SSL certificate, could I set it up so that only trusted computers could access my ISY? On another note, when I request a certificate from CA, I get an error stating Not Implemented Yet. I running 2.7.10 Thanks!
  16. I am using the self signed certificate so maybe that's why I get the warning. As for the specific warning, I'm not at my office now but it doesn't stop me from accessing the site, it just warns that the certificate may not be trustable. I also use TZO.com to forward my self assigned ip address to my non-static ip address so maybe I will never be able to rid myself of the warning. I don't mind it though. I still don't understand why I need a certificate?
  17. Since I've never been able to get a certificate to work, I don't see why they are necessary. Am I missing something? Also, I must be doing something wrong with certificates as I always get the warning when accessing the ISY through the internet, even on my office computer despite me installing a self generated certificate! Thanks
  18. I see the logic. But what if I changed my program to say: If: ( Time is From Sunset To Sunrise (same day) And Time is >6:00:00Pm ) Then: Set 'Yourlights' On
  19. I don't have the program in front of me but it is very easy. I'm a newbe but what I would do is If: ( Time is Sunset And Time is >6:00:00Pm ) Then: Set 'Yourlights' On
  20. I have a Scene that turns on a few devices based on the following program If: Module Climate Light <5 and From 4:00:00PM To 8:00:00PM (same day) Then: Set Scene 'Outdoor Lights' On Else: Set Scene 'Outdoor Lights' Off The problem I have is if I manually turn on one of the lights included in the scene and according to the above statement, the Else is running, it keeps turning off my lights. Any better way of doing what I'm trying to do?
  21. Reading through your posts, it seems possible that you may not have your correct local ip address. Can you log into your new router and find your connected devices. From there you should be able to see your ISY. At that point, it should tell you the local ip address of your ISY. If I were you, I would have the ip address of the ISY be fixed. Its easy to do. Once you do that, the ISY will always have the same ip address and one variable will be removed. Each time you either restart your ISY or the router, there is a chance that the router will change the local ip address of the ISY. Its easy enough to do. In the ISY's Configuration tab under System, it gives you the option of assigning the ISY a static ip address BUT BE WARNED! Don't assign the static ip unless you are absolutely sure you know how to do it because the ISY will restart with that address and if you configured it wrong, you won't be able to access the ISY to change it back easily (it is possible though). The information you need is in the router. If you access the router's administration page, you can find what the local network is. You need the ip range and the Subnet mask and the router's ip address. I always choose an ip address at the end of the range so its out of the way of all the computer traffice (ex. 192.168.0.254) Next, to make the internet access more reliable, you need to have a static ip address. You could either have your internet service provider assign you one (more expensive but more reliable) or you could sign up for a service that updates your changable ip address with an ip address that you pick. I use TZO.com. There, you pick and address (like yourname) and then add TZO's ending. Then it would look like: yourname.tzo.net. Then, instead of programming your Mobilinc to use your actual internet ip address, you would have Mobilinc use yourname.tzo.net and it should always work. I know what I've just described seems daunting but it only has to be set up once and I believe it is vital to keeping your network stable.
  22. Thanks! You are completely correct!! I love this Insteon and the ISY!!! I am migrating from x-10 which has been driving me crazy for the past (I'm embarrassed to say) 6 years!!! Today, I installed the first 10 or so devices and everything works without any drama!! This is the way I envisioned x-10 but it never delivered. Even my wife loves it!
  23. My electrician is here changing out my old x-10 wall switches for Insteon. I bought a bunch of 3-way Insteon switches (which come as matched pairs) but since I use the ISY to control my system, do I need to use matched pairs? Won't the link be removed when I find them? Can't I add whatever links I want with programming at the ISY?
  24. So using your low voltage idea, I would create a scene where the low voltage module would have a 3 min ramp speed and achieve an 80% max. Then I would create a program that runs the scene when I want it on. To turn it off, would I turn the scene off? Will that use the same ramp speed programmed into the scene? Sorry for all the newbe questions!
  25. I am using low voltage transformers and normally I would use a lamp module and control the transformer that way but I was thinking that maybe it would be better if I used a receptacle module. Does anyone have any experience with this?
