  1. Support says either send it in for repair to them or I can try re-flashing a fresh image onto the mSATA drive in the unit. Then I would just update via admin console and then restore my IoX backup. Seeing how I have the new eISY on (pre)order, I don't think timing would be good for me to send it in and I'm not afraid to try to reflash the drive from an iso. I'll give it a whirl when my mSATA adapter shows up tomorrow and report back in case anyone is following or runs into something similar.

The power supply is outputting 12.34v and there's no reason to believe the current (1.5A) isn't there... the light ON the power supply itself is green and the unit doesn't seem to have any sort of "dimming lights" signs or anything else with a shortage of current. I don't think it's power either.
  3. Yep, I kind of figured, that one is well documented... the light combo tells them exactly what needs to be done. Not sure what happened to mine but this one is unfortunately different... I'm going to test the power brick for kicks before I run up and buy some other one just to rule that out... not sure.
  4. Ah... yes, when it becomes corrupt (certain light arrangement) you have to plug the little ROM flash board they send into the pin header if I remember correctly and it re-flashes it. Yes, that actually happened to me a few years back but that was a specific light combo after some beeping during boot... where the BIOS becomes corrupt I believe. Is that what you recall or something different? Mine is not doing that scenario this time unfortunately (as I have that little flash board they sent on-hand). That issue and solution is outlined in the Wiki. This is a whole different situation that I am not finding any documentation on.
  5. Hope not as well... is there even a SSD card in the Polisy Pro? I know there isn't one accessible from the exterior of the unit. Do you mean there's a slot and card on the inside of the unit?
  6. We have an electronics store near by, I can swing over there and find something of the same spec and hopefully same connector to try... good suggestion, thank you. I have not yet tested the power supply or tried a different one.
  7. Another update... what I see (status lights on the box) when I power it on is accurate. It's silent and I only see the one light change noted previously. What I DO see suggests that something else is likely going on behind the scenes and perhaps I might be lucky enough to get bailed out of this without a factory reset? With pings, I can see this on my network when I plug power into the unit: 35-40 seconds after power is applied, it pulls an IP from DHCP and is on the network with an IP (pingable) It begins querying DNS for pkg.isy.io every ~30 seconds repeatedly and constantly All I can do is ping it... SSH is disallowed on the unit as it refuses the connection and I cleared my Java cache, reinstalled the IoX launcher fresh and tried to manually connect following the Wiki instructions with no luck. Thanks, I think this is about all of the troubleshooting / investigation I can do at this time without further ideas or direction. My gut is to factory reset it and give the IoX backup a shot... but I'll wait for a response in the meantime if anyone can help. Thank you very much in advance!
  8. Additionally, I followed your instructions and cleared Java cache and re-installed a new launcher and tried to access via the correct IP/port/address with no luck.
  9. Thanks DennisC, really appreciate it. I ended up creating a support ticket after documenting the boot cycle (lights/beeps) and I think I'm in real trouble here. I don't think it's actually booting. I have no idea what happened to it to get here. Whole rack is on a UPS, all equipment has been "power happy" for 3.5+ years with no power bumps or anything. So after a good solid power cycle and staring at it for 30min while I watch lights/beeps to document for this ticket... I don't think it's booting. This is what happens when I power it up (plug the power cable in): All 3 lights come on for about 1-2 seconds Just the left most light remains on - and that's it. No beeps at all, no more blinking, no nothing. Just that sequence above when first applying power to the unit and that's it. Wondering if a factory reset is in order? As much as that makes me cringe, I'm HOPING my IoX backup helps me out when I get it back up and running. Do you think that's my only chance at this point? Seems that this thing has somehow become corrupt... again, no good reason why but sometimes these things happen.
  10. For starters, this unit has been "in production" running my home automation for 5 or more years with no changes to networking or anything that would cause any connectivity issues. I can ping the device IP just fine but I cannot get to it any other way suddenly. This all started by the unit erroring out from the UD app and my Echos with voice commands saying it was offline or unavailable. So I was able to ping the IP, get into the local portal just fine via the IoX launcher, backed the unit up for good measure (IoX Backup), then pressed the button on the face twice to do a safe reboot. Once it came back up, everything reconnected and was fine for about 5 min. Then the app started complaining again and this time, I could not get into the interface from the IoX launcher. This has ALWAYS worked. So I rebooted it again, no help. I then waited a good 10min and pulled the power cord and plugged it back in... same thing. On the face, when it's rebooting it has left light solid, right two blink together for a while then go out and it's just the left light. When it's done booting, the left light is solid, no other lights are on or blinking. Still after a power cycle this is where I am. I've had this thing up and running for years with no issues, don't know what happened or what I need to do here to get it working again. Also, I can still ping the IP of the box, so that is fine but that isn't helping much as I can't get to it via the IoX launcher or app. I'm fairly certain it's just not working at this point as I can usually tell when it's poling the Insteon devices (lights dim ever so slightly when they are communicating... and it's not doing this anymore when the box boots up which tells me it's probably not actually booting up correctly or completely) Please help!   11. Hi there, I currently have a UPS running my network rack which includes many devices that can use a network ups to trigger graceful shutdown events. Currently I have my NAS connected directly to the UPS and have it configured to be used as a network UPS server... there are many other ways to do this of course, NUT, etc. I would like to know how to get the Polisy to trigger a graceful safe shutdown in the event of a power outage and low UPS battery, I have a couple NAS devices doing this and am in process of getting my firewall configured as well. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  12. Great, thank you both so much, really appreciate it! Strangely enough, it all seems to be working perfectly fine now... I've been walking around my house barking orders to "Alexa" to turn lights on and off and it's super snappy again and no issues. Again, it was ONLY the Insteon devices that were having issues, the Hue controlled devices were triggering just fine through Polisy. So I really can't explain it, I don't know that the USB Stick Insteon device is going bad... not sure if that's a thing, I have backups for this hardware if I need to change to a PLM or other USB stick if need be, but seems like after picking up the Polisy physically, looking at it and setting it back down, it has somehow resolved. Very odd. Thanks again.

Actually two things I'm looking for if someone could help: 1) The best/safest actual "reboot" process for the Polisy (I've used the button press method in the past to gracefully reboot it because I didn't find any real straight forward way of doing it as it's basically a series of VMs running on that little box). Is there an actual graceful reboot process? 2) PLM replacement procedure. Those two things would be greatly helpful, if I ultimately end up needing to do anything like that.   14. Well, I have a bad memory, because I just looked and realized pretty quickly that I don't actually have a PLM, I have the Insteon USB stick sticking out of the back of the Polisy. Again, has been this way for years and nothing honestly has changed. I just kind of physically looked and moved a couple things around a little and suddenly it seems everything is now snappy and working... I didn't disconnect/unplug anything or change anything, so not sure what is going on. All of the errors that I had when I opened up the console (I had a handful of device communication errors pop up), I was able to go to that device and query and it communicated and pulled the status instantly and now everything seems to be working. I'm kind of confused here. Would someone be able to share the PLM replacement procedure for me? All references that I find are old broken links to PDFs. I don't know if the USB PLM replacement procedure is the same however I would assume it is, it's just a different interface doing the same thing. Thanks again
  15. I've searched and cannot find what I'm looking for so am posting, hopefully someone can help. Last night for the very first time in the many years I've been using this system (Polisy with Insteon PLM and a USB Z-Wave stick), all of the Insteon devices failed to trigger at their normal "evening" interval but my light bulbs connected through Hue worked just fine and triggered on time. I've also noticed that when I give commands to my Echo's to turn something on and off, if it's an Insteon device, it either has a HUGE delay of like 10 seconds or better, or it just never happens (very rarely it's instant like it always has been), but also noticing that my Hue connected light bulbs are spot on still and work perfect and instant like always. Is this something where I can just unplug the PLM and plug it back in and see if that works, or should I shut down the Polisy unit first (how do I do that exactly, I can't find any info on how to reboot the whole box or shut the whole box down)? Is this common, or where would you guys start? I don't know if this is a common symptom of a failing PLM or if something else is wrong... as I stated, this system has been absolutely rock solid for many years. This is a sudden, new change. Well, good news I guess and false alarm (sorry!), I decided before grabbing the log I'd try one more thing... rebooting the Polisy all together with and seeing if it worked since this seemed like an anomaly. Well, it worked. When I clicked on install in the store this time, the window had all fields populated towards the bottom, and actually showed me the available locations ONLY this time which is also different than before... evidently my system needed a reboot. Sorry for the confusion, I already have it up and running and no errors... it's already integrated into my programs and I appreciate your code, help, and responsiveness. Sorry for the trouble and thank you!

  18. Okay, so I think that's it then. My install is aborting, it's not installing anything at all... no nodes appear in PG2 or PG3. In reviewing the log in closer detail, it just aborts the install and never actually installs because there is no UUID defined. To me, this makes sense... I feel theres some random key gen that is not occurring or just some plain line of text missing from the install config for this. You can see it in the log that it's just an empty field, so I have a feeling with mine, it's just aborting the install, so is never installed. @firstone needs to look at the installer... the subject is the exact error I get. I can of course send more to @firstone if needed however that's the error and to me isolates the issue. I tried to install it in PG2 for kicks and I get some other non-descript error and it never asks me what slot I would like it installed in, so also I believe that is just aborting the install and nothing is actually occurring. Thank you for the workaround instructions though, if this is updated and there's still a workaround needed, this is perfect... thank you. In my case, there is no node server present on my PG2 or PG3 dashboard or in the administrative console.
  19. Hi Asbril, thank you for your reply and input. How exactly did you remove it? I can't tell if something did install or not but it doesn't show in the administrative console. Additionally, how do I install the PG2 version? I tried from the PG2 store and it failed there too but it was some generic error and didnt' ask me what slot I wanted to install like PG3 does.   22. Hello, if this has been documented already somewhere else I apologize, I was not able to find it. With bits and pieces from reviewing various old posts, I was able to figure this one out without much to go off of so figured I would document it for anyone else looking to do the same or for anyone new to the Polisy for this pretty basic integration. My objective was simply to have good light bulb control for my lamps. Outside of a few lamps in my home, I exclusively use Insteon switches but have yet to find a good wireless bulb that comes recommended outside of Hue for integrating into Polisy. Assumptions: - Polisy and Hue hub are on the same local network, same VLAN, or firewall rules have been created to allow communication between these devices if on separate VLANs. Prerequisites: - A functioning (fully updated) Polisy on your home network - A Hue hub on your home network (although there are ways around this, I chose to use an actual hub for various reasons) - Hue light bulbs added to your Hue hub and confirmed to be working properly from the Hue app (get this completed first) - Be in close proximity of your Hue hub as you will need to press the button and then click a button within the ISY dashboard, so you will likely want a laptop for this step depending how close your computer is to the hue hub Process: - Log into PG3 from the launcher - Click on Node Server Store - Scroll down to find Hue and click Install - Click on your ISY Dashboard tab across the top so you are looking at your additional node servers, including your newly installed Hue - Click Details for your Hue node server - Press the round button on top of your Hue hub - Within 30 seconds, click Restart in your Hue node server - This will trigger it to discover all of the available devices/rooms/etc. configured on that Hue hub - Now you should be able to go back to your UD Launcher and open up the admin console - At this point, when the admin console started it's refresh cycle upon opening, it discovered the Hue hub and all associated devices, etc. that were discovered during the "button press phase" of discovery That's it... it's as easy as that. Again, this may be covered elsewhere however I was not able to find any simple, straight forward (new) install process... only older threads which seem to be prior to the PG3 node server for this integration. Things I like about this integration and Hue especially... it does NOT require you to create yet another login to some cloud service, etc. Additionally, it's all local control, no dependency on Internet or cloud services. I hope someone else finds this helpful, I am by every definition a beginner to Polisy and IoP, so please excuse any incorrect terminology. Thank you
