I may have solved many of your Rainforest Eagle <--> ISY-994 interface questions posted here. I built a listener self contained WebAPP to the Rainforest Eagle messages its a webapp called PowerEYE, It then automatically pushes them into your configured ISY! The ISY-994 state variables are: eagle.power.current.watts eagle.energy.current.wattshours eagle.price.current.centsperkwhr NOTE:the power reading gets updated (pushed) every ~10 seconds. It also integrates the ISY-devices through a page that lists all your ISY-devices and allows control of those devices. See the announcement post at: topic 15394-powereye-integrate-isy-994-with-rainforest-eagle-hansmartmeter-data or go to the http://powereye.webarts.ca Its Free, OpenSource and runs on its own, as long as you have an installed JDK. (no need for a seperate web server/servlet engine) questions, comments and suggestions are welcome. tom

It looks like you have the servername wrong... smtpauth.earthlink.net ___^___ Again please have a second set of eyes look at your servername (ping it too) and your username Here is a snippet google found Please ensure you are using the following settings: Incoming Server (POP3 server): pop.earthlink.net POP3 port: 110 Outgoing Server (SMTP server): smtpauth.earthlink.net SMTP port: 587 Select "Use name and password" username: full email address (user@earthlink.net) Select "Use secure authentication" secure connection: 'TLS, if available' or no. Both should work.
-
You probably have already tried , but I gotta ask anyway... [*:1gg7p0h8]your username is your full email address ( user@earthlink.net)
-
I don't use Outlook, so with that in mind; here is my guess... Is your smtp server expecting TLS or some other type of encryption like SSL? Check what your smtp server is expecting. I have to add SSL encryption to all my mail using a an open tool called Stunnel (http://www.stunnel.org) (i believe there is a version that runs as a service on M$) Its easy to setup and it acts like a proxy: you point ISY at your locally running stunnel and it proxies all the data (ssl encrypted) to the mail server. tom

Hi, You have to setup the ISY to send an email notification see http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Messaging_Configuration then once the notification is setup (and tested) you create a program that triggers on your temp sensor. The forums have lots of examples such as... http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=10413&p=79120&hilit=program+send+email#p79120 pretty much any status or event happening that the ISY sees can trigger an email. You can have many different notification/messages setup and then the ISY program sends the appropriate one.

I am on 3.3.8 - Everything is fast here. Sounds like it maybe some DNS lookup issues? Try dotted quads for the IP address instead of a name that needs to be resolved. tom

Hi, I do have the network module. I do have the /USER/WEB directory BUT it is completely empty. I don't remember if there were files in there before the upgrade... its a new 994i. It is supposed to have the default isyajax files , correct? They should come as part of the firmware build, don't they? The admin.jnlp loads OK directly from my local isy994 as does the admin console app. This is on an 994i that I updated to 3.3.7 and then 3.3.8. Both builds have no files. Also Confirmed when I try to visit the isy via it's web port 80 with a web browser. I get an error. tom

Hello, I updated a 994i/pro to 3.3.7 and now to 3.3.8. Both had the default /USER/WEB/ files missing (completely empty). Nothing shows in the Network module web server tab and I get a missing file error message when I hit the web page with firefox. Are they supposed to be there by default? (maybe I loaded them manually before) BTW, The elk module ssl connection on the 994i/pro works well when I configured it with the certificate as per your instructions No problems tom

Just to support what johnnyt stated. If this is all that will be on the UPS, all you need is something small. 350VA to 500VA will get you a long time with the small amount of current draw. Something in the $40-$60 range. TEST IT! tom

The PLM should not be on the UPS, leave it in a regular outlet. With no power, the Insteon signals don't work anyway. UPS the following [*:n8a33oz8]ISY (power) [*:n8a33oz8]the network router [*:n8a33oz8]your modem [*:n8a33oz8]The ELK netowk module (M1XEP) The actual ELK will be battery backed already, but the 12V wall wart for the M1XEP needs to be UPS'd. The ISY is soooo much easier than the ELK to setup email notifications. tom
-
You will need to be running one of the ISY new 3.1.X beta firmware versions to run the ELK module. Minimum 3.1.13. See http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... ity_Module which has all the supported firmware versions for ElkRP and ISY. tom

Release 3.1.14 (Beta) Is Now Available
tgutwin replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
I haven't had a chance to update to 3.1.15 but wanted to report a few low priority things I see in 3.1.15 1 bug - the "new folder" icon graphic is blank or missing on the admin app toolbar and 1 change that might or might not be correct a dialog is left open on admin app opening - its titles the Insteon Finder dialog. it stays behind in the window z order and appears to open before any other admin app windows open it then just stays open (and behind). I can close it no problem (it has a cancel/add/delete/refresh button at the bottom I am running it with Java 7.0.01-b08 oracle java web start (javaws) to my local isy ie... javaws http://10.0.0.202/admin.jnlp I have a 99i/ir pro (1050) with firmware 3.1.14 I will upgrade to 3.1.15, in the next few days and let you know if these persist. tom -

The 'Clear your Java Cache' web link that is referenced by this post and in the Wiki has/is changing and appears to be deprecated. at http://www.deakin.edu.au/itl/dso/guides ... pc-mac.php in case anyone else is looking for it. -
Rating : 10/10 I am sticking to the stable ISY build and everything is rock solid. I am itching for the new firmware features but I have gotten so use to not having to mess around with things (like the old x10 days) that the better half of me is telling me to just be patient. The small issues I have had were not ISY-99i related. - Noise from an apple powerbook power charger (very cheap and noisy design) - I have had a couple Insteon devices go flaky on me I was a long time X10 user, with computer programs and full remote control over a Harmony remote (through a HTPC). I did evaluate the Insteon system for a bit at first but then when I got the UD ISY99i I was sooo surprised by its ease and capabilities. I would never go back to control without it. (I don't know how I put up without it) The Java API rules too!
