Any way to reduce the 30-second flood control on the forum searches? I understand the need to protect the server from DoS attacks, but a 5 second delay would allow the server to recover from a search request and keep the load under control while not annoying the user. It's not uncommon to search for a term and realize there are no results for that word (or too many results) and want to try again within a few seconds.

Hi Steve, Thanks -- does that basically rule out the ISY as a cause of turning the outlet on? Could I also just unplug the ISY to do this or is it better to unplug the PLM only? Thanks!

Hi, ISY994i Version 4.1.2 (one year old) I installed two outletlinc relays (2473S: on/off only) recently. They are connected from the power source to the first outlet, then from the first outlet to the second outlet. Everything checks out fine with an outlet tester (ground, neutral, hot = OK). Each one has a floor fan plugged into it and the fan is turned on (manual rotary knob) set to low speed. I have them both linked to to a remotelinc2. The A button controls the first outletlinc and the B button controls the second outletlinc. They are linked together in separate scenes in my ISY99-4i to create the "linking" (I didn't link them at the device, only in the ISY). Everything works properly. Each responds to on/off commands from their respective remote button. I have noticed, however, that the second outletlinc turns itself on each day at a random time. I can verify when it turns on by looking at some security camera footage that has it in view. One day it came on by itself at 11:15 am. The next day it turned on at 10:06 am. There are no ISY events scheduled around that time. I viewed the ISY log but it has no events that turn on the second outlet at those times. The only entries in the log for the outletlinc being turned on are the ones where I was testing it with the remotelinc. At first I thought it might be that the autosense was enabled so I followed the set button steps to disable it. I then removed it from the ISY setup, did a complete factory-reset of the outletlinc and re-installed it in the ISY and re-linked it to the remote. It happens usually once or twice per day, sometimes in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon or evening. The first outletlinc does not exhibit this issue. I replaced the outletlinc with another one I had in my closet which was a new one (never used) but it happened again. Again, the first outletlinc stayed off and only the second one turned on, so I knew it was probably not a bad device. I then switched the fans (both same make/model) to see if it was somehow a load-sensing thing and to see if the specific fan was somehow triggering it on OL 2. Same issue -- only OL 2 turned on by itself the next day. I did a factory reset on the device and removed it from ISY and re-added it and it still happened. I used the set button to make sure load-sensing was disabled and also tested it when enabled and was able to verify the outletlinc turned on with the fan when it was enabled and didn't turn on with the fan if disabled. Even though it was confirmed disabled, the problem persisted. I then tried removing OL 2 from a button B scene on the remotelinc and put it in a scene with button A (deleting the button B scene from ISY) since the button A fan (OL 1) was not exhibiting this behavior. It thought maybe a stray signal was emulating the remotelinc button B press. OL 2 still turned on by itself the next day, so the linked remotelinc button didn't seem to matter. Originally I had no programs in the ISY to control it while all this was happening, but ended up adding one to make sure it was off at 1 AM since I didn't want it running all night by itself. I've posted this issue in the Smarthome forum and after several responses it was suggested that I had eliminated X10 signals (factory reset), bad device (replaced it with a brand new one) and load-sensing (by changing the setting and confirming it was enabled/disabled), so it might be something related to the ISY controlling it. I did check the device links stored in each of the OL devices as well as the ISY links for each, and there were 4 for each for OL #1 and 5 for each for OL #2 which I thought was odd. I deleted the device and re-added it to ISY and the same scene it was in before (attached to remotelinc button A only) and now both OLs have exactly 4 links each. Not sure if that would account for anything but I did think it was odd. Unfortunately, I didn't save the link list before deleting/adding it for review. I'd appreciate any advice you may have as to what this might be or how I might do further diagnosis and/or resolve it. Thanks!

Thanks everyone. It's an on/off relay outletlinc, not a dimmer. I am currently controlling it via a remotelinc2. The reason I wanted to trigger a program based on the outlet alone was that I had the outletlinc turn on overnight so I'm guessing a stray signal from someplace. In any event, I wanted to monitor this for a few days to see if it turns on when no one is actually using the remote, so I set up an email notification but the trigger needed to be "when the outlet turns on" rather than "when the remote is used to turn the outlet on" so I can determine if it's coming on without the remote. It's always possible I left the fan on overnight but I don't think so in this case, so hopefully this will let me determine if it's a consistent issue. I set it up using the if "status is on" method and tested it and it seems to have worked properly. Just one message when it was switched on so I'll go with that for now and hopefully it really was just me (or someone else in the family) leaving it on.

Hi, I'm trying to create a program that will trigger whenever an outletlinc is switched on. But when I edit the program conditions and select "Control", the outletlincs are not listed. If I choose "Status" I can then choose the outletlinc, but there isn't a "switched on" option, just on/off/responding. I want to trigger the condition once when the outlet is turned on but then not be triggered continuously while it's on. How would I best accomplish this? Thanks!

Tried logging into the ISY at the usual local address xxx.xxx.x.x:xx/admin. This time, it said I needed to update java, so I followed the prompt and did so. It went to the legit Java site (no phishing) and I downloaded and installed the update. It completed successfully but now when I go to my ISY address, I get the following error and Java won't load: Missing Application-Name manifest attribute for: http://192.168.1.7:99/web/insteon.jar The full details window displays the following: Java Plug-in 10.51.2.13 Using JRE version 1.7.0_51-b13 Java HotSpot Client VM User home directory = C:\Users\Vinnie ---------------------------------------------------- c: clear console window f: finalize objects on finalization queue g: garbage collect h: display this help message l: dump classloader list m: print memory usage o: trigger logging q: hide console r: reload policy configuration s: dump system and deployment properties t: dump thread list v: dump thread stack x: clear classloader cache 0-5: set trace level to ---------------------------------------------------- Missing Application-Name manifest attribute for: http://192.168.1.7:99/web/insteon.jar If I do a system restore, it goes back to telling me I need to do the Java update. So now I can't get into the ISY either way. It either requires the update or I do the update and it fails to let me in with the error above. I tried twice with the same results.

Thanks for the quick reply. That worked perfectly!

Hi, I have two keypads, one is an 8-button and one a six-button. In both, I have a couple small buttons controlling various light fixtures. The problem I have is: I have one of the buttons (Dinner) set to enable a scene for dinner. It turns on 3 lights at a set brightness. When I do this, the KPL buttons that control each of those lights individually lights up to the "on brightness" which is fine. I also have a program to turn off the dinner scene if I double-press Dinner, it will turn off each of the three lights. It does this properly, however, it leaves the buttons for each of those lights *ON* on the keypad. I modified my Dinner OFF program so it would not only turn off those 3 lights but also set the KPL buttons for those lights to "Off". Still, it leaves them set to "on brightness" when double-press the Dinner button (the 3 lights do turn off properly though). Any idea how I can turn off the KPL buttons for those three lights when this program is run to turn off the dinner scene? Thanks, Vinnie

Hi Michel, Thanks for your reply. When I telnet into my ISY and log in (successfully), then type DI at the prompt, it responds with "Could not configure the gateway", then returns to the prompt. What can I do now? Thanks, Vinnie

Hi, I have the ISY994 purchased new about 4 months ago running firmware 4.0.5. I have an ApplianceLinc (2634-222 v.42) outside for my landscape lights that doesn't seem to turn on reliably. It's on a program to turn on at sunset along with the front landscape lights on another AL. The front one works great. Only the back yard AL seems to miss several days a week. I decided to look at the error log and found that it shows frequent -80008 errors every day. For example, this is just part of the error log from one day (this type of thing repeats every day): Mon 2013/12/16 06:24:19 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 06:36:42 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 06:38:45 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:09:53 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:19:47 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:21:08 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:31:33 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:32:29 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:36:41 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:42:54 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:45:27 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:46:16 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 07:46:40 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 08:03:17 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 09:07:13 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 09:17:54 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 09:23:34 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 09:24:31 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 09:29:31 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 09:54:31 PM System -80008 n/a Mon 2013/12/16 10:04:31 PM System -80008 n/a I read that the -80008 is NO RESPONSE FROM GATEWAY. I have the ISY connected to my router, but I don't understand what it is doing that often with the internet connection that would cause these errors. I do not have Internet Access enabled on the ISY (it actually fails whenever I try to enable it anyway). Any idea what might cause the backyard AL to act unreliably? It's brand new (within a few months) -- purchased at the same time as the front yard AL. I have a hardwired phase coupler and two access points in the house as well as a half dozen dual band devices on different phases of the electrical service. Also, what is causing these -80008 errors and should I be concerned about them? Thanks! - Vinnie

Thanks. It should be fine. The old kpl is actually working, but ISY admin software has trouble communicating with it when I try to restore device. It works about 50% of the time, otherwise it gets a "could not communicate... check wiring" error. I can query it successfully every time though and I don't notice any issues in daily usage. Scenes and light control seem to work reliably. Not sure what's going on with the Restore Device failures. Regardless, I ordered a current version kpl to replace it and it's also dual band, so I'm hopeful it will help with communications. If not, I'll continue to troubleshoot other possible causes. I already have a wired-in phase coupler and two access points. I also have my UPS and power strips on FilterLincs.
-
That explains it. Hopefully it appears tomorrow after I install the new device. I assume I can replace the physical device in the wall, then launch the ISY admin panel. It would likely report it can't communicate with the old device. Then I could add the new device under a temporary name and then select the old device and select the Replace with option. Does that sound correct?
-
I haven't added the replacement keypadlinc yet, so would it not display the Replace... option in that case? I have another keypadlinc installed but it's an 8-button on/off kpl. I am replacing the 6 button dimmer kpl.

Does this mean the main "On" button? I have them renamed so I think "On" is the Primary node in my case if I understand correctly. I've attached a screenshot to show what's happening. I appear to be using 4.0.11 for the UI already. Thanks!

Hi, I have the ISY994i running 4.0.5 firmware. I have a 6-button Keypadlinc 2486D that I want to replace with a new 6-button Keypadlinc 2334-232 (dual band). I have read about the Replace Device option but when I right click on the Keypadlinc in the admin console, I don't see that option. When I right click on a 2477S or 2477D, I see an option to Replace [devicename] with..., but not for the Keypadlinc. I also have a 2487S Keypadlinc that doesn't show the Replace Device option either. How would I best replace the 2486D with a new 2334-232 Keypadlinc device without having to add it back in to all my scenes and update all my programs that use it? Thanks!

Hmmm... Ok, thanks. Not sure what's going on with these three switches then. They're the only ones in my entire house that need to have the LED Brightness set explicitly. And this just started recently. When I installed them a month or so ago, they were fine and I hadn't updated anything in the ISY when I noticed the problem started.
-
Thanks. I have it set to 40 currently and the LED brightness (both off and on) matches my other switchlincs. So I set it back to zero and the LED went dim again (both off and on states). Set it back to 40 and it looks normal again. It's also strange that it has this problem for all three switches for the kitchen lights, so it can't be a hardware issue. Could it be related to the scene they are all in? I made a scene and put them all in it so they would all control the kitchen lights and that part works fine.
-
The firmware is .41 which I believe is relatively current and supports brightness. Also, as I mentioned, I was able to set the brightness in the ISY and the LED did get brighter. I just never needed to do this before and other switchlincs I have with the same firmware version are not experiencing the problem.

Hi, I have several switchlincs (v.41 dual band, about two months old) controlling my kitchen lights (linked together in a scene). I just noticed tonight that the LEDs for all 3 of them are very dim (barely noticeable) when on. I have other "multi-way" switchlincs in scenes for other lights like my living room and they are fine. I checked the LED On Level setting for all of the kitchen switches and it says "0". But it's the same (zero) for the living room switches and they are normal brightness when on (just a bit dimmer than when off, but still very perceptable). Anyway, I manually set the LED On Level setting in the ISY software for my 3 kitchen switches to 40 and it seems to have made them the same brightness (when on) as the other switchlincs in the house when they are on. But none of the others require any special override of the LED On Level setting. I even tried a Restore Device operation from inside the ISY software but the problem persists if the LED On Level is set to zero. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks, Vinnie

In the scene I have two slaves and one master switchlinc. They all have the same properties for on level and ramp rate (55% and 4.5 sec). I do notice the slave switchlincs are listed with [Applied Locally] next to them. Does that mean anything that would affect this issue? It's odd how the LEDs ramp up at the right rate, but the light comes on much more quickly.
-
I have several switchlincs that are slaves (controllers to the master switch that actually connects to the load). I have set them up in the ISY app with ramp rates of 4.5 seconds. But when I hit the slave switch, it does turn on the light, but the light turns on very fast. Oddly, the LEDs on the slave switch ramp up slowly -- the light is already on full while the LEDs are still ramping up. How does this happen and how can I fix it? Thanks!

Hi, I just set up a bunch of new Insteon switches in my new house. Is there a way to tell the ISY to auto-detect all devices and add them so I only have to rename them and not add them one at a time? Thanks, Vinnie

Ok, thanks!
