Hey Brian, After I sent my last reply to this thread I got thinking about the noise issue and how it might be occurring. The EZIO is connected to a old power bar behind my little server rack and I thought either the old power bar or other equipment might be introducing noise. So I got an extension cord and plugged into a outlet in a different room and tried connecting the EZIO to it. Doing so moved the EZIO about 1ft from its original location. After plugging it back in then doing a query o the device to make sure it was operational, I checked the logs and found the EZIO was no longer noisy. I then connected the extension cord to my power bar and witnessed the same thing. I thought this meant the physical location was probably the issue. Just to make sure, I remove the extension cord and plugged the EZIO back into it's original spot. It did not resume being noisy, and my whole theory was shot. However that's good news as the device is working properly for now. In the meantime I am going to find some 10K ohm resistors to have on hand to try the other solution in case the problem returns. I am bit baffled as to why it just stopped being noisy, since nothing has really changed but I'm glad its working like it should at the moment. Thanks again for your help! Simon

Hi Brian,First let me say thanks for responding to my question in both this thread and my initial set up thread, I really appreciate it. To answer your question I am only using the opto isolated inputs. Specifically here is how I have the door contact and UPS set up: - 5v terminal is connected to i1+ and i2+ - Door Contact connected to i1- and GND - UPS Output Relay connected to i2- and GND I think this set up matches up with you detailed in my previous post. I did notice one GND connection was loose, which I fixed. Not sure if that would cause any issue like this. After I plugged the EZIO in I tested operation (opening/closing door contact, triggering the output relay via software) and things worked as expected. I also checked the event viewer again and it still chattering away and the event log streams by with events from the EZIO. I am going to try getting my hands on a 10K resistor to test connecting I3 and I4 like you suggest to see if this cancels out the noise. I trust this goes from 5v to the positive I3 and I4? Simon

Hello, I noticed my Insteon network seems very busy. Things have gotten a bit slow and I'm getting more misfires. I noticed that on my Isy repeaters the status light seemed to blinking constantly. I checked my event logs only to find that an Ezio 2x4 I set up a couple of months back has gotten really noisy. It seems to generate some traffic every few seconds as show in the log below. All I have set up on the Ezio is two dry contacts, one to a door contact and the other to my UPS, and each of these are members a scene. Hi Brian, The UPS outpout is indeed a dry contact. Thanks to your tips I got my EZIO up and running so it can respond to my UPS temperature events, and also for a magnetic switch to turn a light on and off when a door is opened and closed. Thank you very much for the help! Simon

Hi, Wondering if someone can help me set up my Ezio 2x4? Specifically I am trying to figure out how to set it up to accomplish two functions. The first is to read a dry contact sensor (magnetic door sensor) in order to control a light. The second is to operate a fan based on the relay output of my UPS. However I am not sure how everything should be connected to the Ezio 2x4 terminals and if I need additional parts like resistors. Thanks in advance for any help. Simon

After dong some searching in the forum I think I found the details I need. I probably should have done that first! Cheers, Simon

Hi, My wife and I recently bought and moved into a new (to us) home. From my old house, I took al my Isy and all my Insteon gear. I now have my Isy and a couple of devices hooked up but I'm not sure how to start. I'd like to wipe out everything and start fresh. What do I need to do in order to accomplish this? Thanks, Simon

Hi Lee, Thanks for another answer to one of my questions. I tired this over the weekend but I'm already using I1 and I2, so I went ahead and used I3. It seems to work as described. However I am wondering if it's okay to use I3 for this purpose or should I be using the analogue inputs? Cheers, Simon

Hey Lee, I took your advice and ordered another magnetic contact, but normally closed rather than open for this application. Thanks for the help! Simon

Thanks for the response Lee. I saw another post that I think is yours in this thread: http://forum.smarthome.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2164 Which suggested swapping the off to on and on to off commands might be able to accomplish this. Will this method not work for the ezio4x2? Thanks. Simon

HI, Is it possible to swap the on/off state of an input? I have a magnetic door contact connected to an input and when the door is closed it shows as on. I want it to be the reverse of this, or at least the insteon commands it sends to be the opposite. I am looking at it in the Smartenit utility and my device and I don't see an way to accomplish this. Thanks, Simon

Over the weekend I replaced my PLM with a new 2413S. It's only been a few days so I can't address if it solves my issue just yet, but I will say the whole network feels snappier. While that might be anecdotal, certainly the wireless devices in range of the dual band plm are much more responsive now which is a nice plus. I'll see in the coming weeks how this fares. Thanks for all the help. Simon

Hi Michel, I have sent over my error as an attachment to support@universal-devices.com log for your review. It's odd that you mention that this is not supported as I'm pretty sure I purchased this alongside my Isy as a bundle from Aartech. Would it be a good idea for me to swap it with a 2142 or 2143s? Tanks, Simon

Hi, I just had an odd problem today and I'm wondering if my issue stems from my Isy or the PLM. I had a non working Insteon motion sensor and I figured it was the battery. So I took the sensor down and found the led was lighting up when I pressed the button under the battery cover. So next, while observing it's on/off status in the console I pressed the button a few times. Nothing happened, and the status did not change from on to off. The device continued to show ON despite repeated clicks of the button. Then I tried to look at the options for the motion sensor and the Isy console just froze. I tried to get back to the console but the web interface didn't seem to even respond any more. I finally had to unplug my PLM an EZIOCOMM model that provides power and data to the ISY over a single cable and plug it back in. Once that was done everything returned to normal. I am running 4.2.30 currently. I know this is not much to go on. However I wondered if this was indicative of a PLM going bad? If so I'll just bite the bullet and replace the one I have. I haven't really documented the number of times but it seems every few weeks its needs a hard reset by pulling the power to get it going again. Cheers, Simon

Hi Teken! I didn't find the SL to very reliable so I discontinued using it. So I thought perhaps there was some feasible solution to do something similar using the EZIO4x2 and it's inputs. Simon
