  1. I would not do it either. With that said, I can tell you that I had done it many years ago with X10 dimmers and yes it did work (they worked for many years). I did this over 15 years ago when I did not know any better. Currently I do not have any dimmers on inductive loads.
  2. This is how I understand the offer also. (I spoke with a sales rep)
  3. Hi Michel I started Kaspersky again and of course the problem came back. Referencing the discussion link you provided...I had to turn off Web Anti-Virus to get the correct info to display in the ISY. Of course Web AV is important. I'll play around with the settings and see what I can do. If Kaspersky won't play nice...out it comes and I'll put Micro Trend back on. My ISY comes first. On another note I would like to download 2.7.7 alpha Could you supply a link? Thanks again for your unbelievable help and support. -Kevin
  4. Michel, I am back in business! I turned off the firewall in Kaspersky with no luck. I then shutdown Kaspersky completely and everything looks normal. My apologies. This is the second time you helped me out with a problem on my end and nothing to do with the ISY. I know it would appear obvious that I had the problem right after the AV but I had the same problem on a PC in a seperate room that does not have Kaspersky so I thought it was not the AV SW. Also, I can get into the ISY UI so I did not think the AV SW was blocking anything. Thank you so much. I can not get over the support on this product!!
  5. I had Micro trend and had no problems. I installed Kaspersky right befor I noticed the problem. I'll turn it off and get right back to you.
  6. Hi Michel I can actually turn on the devices as you suggested, (I tried a couple of switches in the room I'm in). They did not use the 9 minute ramp rate or zero on as the ISY indicates, they came on normal. The link you provided brought the ISY UI up with the same problems. Thanks, Kevin
  7. Hello all, I had my console to the ISY open while I was uninstalling a trial version of antivirus SW and installing another trial. All went fine but the ISY UI seemed to be frozen and would not close (IE and UI). I had to shut it down via task manager. Upon going back into the ISY, all comes up normal except there is no information in the devices. The ramp rates are all at 9 minutes and the on levels are all zero. After trying another login from a seperate computer (same problem) I removed the PLM from the wall (which power cycles the PLM and ISY). After reboot the same problem exists. Any thoughts? Kevin
  8. Thank you Illusion and Michel. KPL A is a "Home" indicator. When it's on I am home and when it is off I am not home. The X10 signal is to shut off a porch light. If I am home (KPL A is On) and 9PM rolls around I want the program to execute (turn the porch light off). If I am not home (KPL A is Off) and 9PM rolls around, I want the porch light to stay On. When I finally arrive home (between 9PM and 7AM next day) I will press KPL A On and I would like the program to execute (shut the light off). Will the program do this? Thanks again!
  9. Does this look OK? So this will execute at 9PM if the KP A button is already on? Or it will execute if it is between 9PM and 7AM next day whenthe KP A button is turned on? If Status 'Mud Room KP A' is On And From 9:00:00PM To 7:00:00AM (next day) Then Wait 1 minute Send X10 'H2/Off (11)' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  10. I'm trying to write a program to send an X10 command if it is after 9PM and KeypadLinc button A is already on or is turned on. I'm not sure how to do it. I saw where to select time but not sure how to say "after 9PM". If Control 'Mud Room KP A' is switched On Then Wait 1 minute Send X10 'H2/Off (11)' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Any help would be appreciated -Kevin
  11. Thank you! My backup is now one zip file in the folder I selected. I was not even aware of the user account setting until I tried the backup and ran into the save issue. I've had vista for a couple of months now and I'm not likeing it. Thanks again - your support is amazing. I'll be bringing my new ISY (and myself) up to speed over the next month or so. I'll study the forum and wiki before I post. Thanks again! Kevin
  12. Hello Michel, I am using Vista. I'm sorry to take your valuable time with what is apparently either a Vista issue or something I should know about the Vista OS. The folder I saved to is empty. However when I do another backup and navigate to the folder it shows the previous backup. I saved another backup and then lokked at the folder via windows explorer and the file shows empty. During another back, when I pick the folder to save it in, it shows both backups.
  13. BTW the UD file is 41KB not 1KB as stated in the last post. Also my firmawre is 2.7.0
  14. Hello Michel .UDX 1KB UD 1KB udi_frame.state 1KB udi_tree.state 1KB UDReport 200KB
  15. Hello, I did a Backup ISY and the dialogue box that pops up after the backup said Vista may not save in the location selected but rather default to user/app data/local low. Thats exactly where it put it. The backup saved as five seperate files. The dialogue box said it would be a zip file. any reason it did not zip. Is it ok to have the five seperate files in the event I need to do a restore. Thanks, Kevin
  16. Is it OK to leave a connection to the ISY open indefinitely? I was just curious, because many times I return to my computer and realize I left the ISY connection open (sometimes for several days). Is this of any concern? Does it slow things down or cause any issues whatsoever? Thanks, Kevin
  17. Thanks Rand - I won't have more then 50 devices. I'll go with the non Pro Now I need to decide on the IR. From reading the forums there was going to be an IR transmit feature but it appears to be shelved (or at least on the back burner), I'm guessing due to smarthome coming out with the IRLinc. I'll go with the non IR (If the feature is released it will be an add on component anyway. So, no reason to get it now. Thanks again
  18. I'm Just about to order my ISY (Now that Homeseer offers what appears to be a very reliable plug in for the ISY). I usually go overboard on everything I buy but as I grow older I realize it's just a waste. Is the Pro version really necessary in a residential home? Over a thousand devices/scenes and a thousand programs! The non Pro offers 256 devices, who has more then 256 devices in their home? Is there any other advantage of the Pro version besides capacity? Thanks
  19. Thank you for your candid response Michel. I will continue to watch this excellent forum and also take a look at the other options you mentioned.
  20. Does it make sense to keep Homeseer and run the ISY with it? I have a fairly elaborate dependable system in place for about 10 years (70% X10 and 30% Insteon) with lots of conditionals and scenes. All my Insteon devices are in X10 mode because Homeseer has always been struggling with Insteon and now they no longer support it. I've been hearing this Forum and the Homeseer forum speak about plugins for each other's application. Do we really need a plugin? Can't I just get an ISY and program all my Insteon devices. Then send a virtual X10 trigger from homeseer to the ISY which would then send the Insteon commands and visa versa? An example would be for the ISY to receive an Insteon motion detect. If the action is to turn on Inteon devices then the ISY would do the work directly to the Insteon device "AND" alert Homeseer by sending a virtual X10 command. So Homeseer would know we had a motion detect and can execute some of the features that the ISY cannot . Such as scripting, zwave and elaborate conditionals. What are the downfalls of running both these systems together? Thanks for any help in making me understand this more clearly.
  21. I've been reading the on this forum for about two months and decided to join to learn more and hopefully return knowledge from my experiences. I've read so much about the customer service. When I tried to register on the forum I had a problem with registration (I was viewed as a spam-bot). Bottom line, I made a phone call and who did I get on the phone? You got it, Michel Kohanim. Not only did he take care of my registration problem but he took the time to answer several questions I had. I was thinking..."how does this guy have the time to explain basics to a newbie, like myself?" I did not feel rushed or insignificant like many other companies make you feel. I think jgraziano got it right...He's not real, he's a machine.
