I read through that thread earlier and decided that it was "too hard" to set up a vm compared to how easy it was to change a single bios option by pressing a key at boot. Sure I give up being able to get both software stacks at once, but longer term, I think if I can repair yet another broken PLM and have IoX give me my link table, I might be able to go into home assistant and get full control in the way I've wanted it to happen on isy/eisy in the past and it never has been possible. Thinking in reverse, if the main application runs in Java, there should not be a lot preventing me from running a docker container with java and the entire eisy environment in less overhead than running a full VM under freebsd.
-
Since yesterday, I've installed a 1TB nvme drive with home assistant pre-installed and if I plug in a keyboard at boot, I can select whether I boot eisy as eisy or as home assistant by changing which device boots first. I also didn't realize you could also use VMs from the normal eisy install and run home assistant that way, so I guess I'll have to figure that out too, but it's very nice to see eisy is just a regular intel x86-64 box that does EFI boot as expected. After adding more devices like onvif cameras and network storage I think I understand why people use home assistant now.

The out of box experience is very nice running on eisy (from 256GB sdcard on the front usb) -- it found all sorts of devices available to control and show status for. My Google TV streamer is actually playing youtube and I can pause it from the UI here and I'm looking forward to testing insteon support when I get a replacement USB PLM:
-
I was curious if this was possible at all, and I grabbed a generic x86-64 home assistant boot image from github and tried to boot on my eisy. In case this helps anyone else, booting from the sd card slot doesn't appear possible and the usb ports on the side don't support boot either, but the one on front actually booted successfully and while I haven't tried it yet, it would appear that I could add a m.2 nvme and install home assistant there and dual boot through the bios boot menu on the eisy. I've been using Michael's software for so long I don't know how he'd feel about this, but it's a really exciting development for me and once I get my usb plm working again (failed again as is usual), it'll be fun to compare the control of the system under both environments. If you're not a linux and/or bsd expert, I don't recommend following down my path, but I was excited that it worked and I wanted to share that at least the front usb port is bootable in case anyone else has been curious about escaping the confines of java.

As nearly as I can tell, it is part of the auto-update framework for the Java Runtime Environment/JavaAppletPlugin since JRE7u6. I did not have this problem before the update to 7. If I manually install JDK8 and then manually invoke as follows (vs using /usr/bin/javaws), I can make it work /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/javaws admin.jnlp I'm pretty sure though since my macs are managed by my employer that they will likely undo what I have done shortly.

I can run admin console on windows without complaint, but I only have one windows machine and multiple mac laptops and desktops... all running 10.9.2. I got the admin.jnlp from the release notes for 4.1.2 for my isy994i ZS, but I cannot run this on my mac, even after javaws -clearcache at the command line. The dialog box shown is: Insecure update error! For security reasons, you need to sign your updates with a DSA key. See Sparkle's documentation for more information. [OK] And the ISY Finder is also shown at the same time with no devices found. I would really appreciate not having to use a windows machine that really only exists for the sole purpose of running elkRP in order to configure or update my isy. Java console shows the following on a clean startup after clearing everything out: Java Web Start 10.51.2.13 Using JRE version 1.7.0_51-b13 Java HotSpot 64-Bit Server VM User home directory = /Users/nil ---------------------------------------------------- c: clear console window f: finalize objects on finalization queue g: garbage collect h: display this help message m: print memory usage o: trigger logging p: reload proxy configuration q: hide console r: reload policy configuration s: dump system and deployment properties t: dump thread list v: dump thread stack 0-5: set trace level to ---------------------------------------------------- basic: Java part started basic: jnlpx.jvm: /Library/Third Party Plugins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java basic: jnlpx.splashport: -1 basic: jnlpx.remove: true basic: jnlpx.heapsize: null network: Loading user-defined proxy configuration ... network: Done. network: Loading proxy configuration from Netscape Navigator ... network: Done. network: Loading browser proxy configuration ... network: Done. network: Proxy Configuration: System Proxy Configuration basic: Running JVMParams: [JVMParameters] -> [JVMParameters] security: Loading Deployment certificates from /Users/nil/Library/Application Support/Oracle/Java/Deployment/security/trusted.certs security: Loaded Deployment certificates from /Users/nil/Library/Application Support/Oracle/Java/Deployment/security/trusted.certs security: Loading certificates from Deployment session certificate store security: Loaded certificates from Deployment session certificate store security: Loading certificates from Deployment session certificate store security: Loaded certificates from Deployment session certificate store security: Loading certificates from Deployment session certificate store security: Loaded certificates from Deployment session certificate store security: Loading Root CA certificates from /Library/Third Party Plugins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/security/cacerts security: Loaded Root CA certificates from /Library/Third Party Plugins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/security/cacerts security: Obtain certificate collection in Root CA certificate store security: Obtain certificate collection in Root CA certificate store security: Obtain certificate collection in Root CA certificate store security: Obtain certificate collection in Root CA certificate store security: Loading blacklisted.certs file: /Users/nil/Library/Application Support/Oracle/Java/Deployment/security/blacklisted.certs security: SHA-256Certificate finger print: 78A693463B8C884B894F19B76F47D7A50ED9EAD8FCF6A172BEB5CCCD8597A3CC security: SHA-256Certificate finger print: 0CFC19DB681B014BFE3F23CB3A78B67208B4E3D8D7B6A7B1807F7CD6ECB2A54E security: SHA-256Certificate finger print: 8420DFBE376F414BF4C0A81E6936D24CCC03F304835B86C7A39142FCA723A689 security: SHA-256Certificate finger print: A4B6B3996FC2F306B3FD8681BD63413D8C5009CC4FA329C2CCF0E2FA1B140305 security: The OCSP support is enabled security: The CRL support is enabled network: Connecting http://ocsp.verisign.com/ with proxy=DIRECT network: Connecting socket://ocsp.verisign.com:80 with proxy=DIRECT security: OCSP Response: GOOD network: Connecting http://ocsp.verisign.com/ with proxy=DIRECT security: OCSP Response: GOOD network: Connecting http://ocsp.verisign.com/ with proxy=DIRECT security: OCSP Response: GOOD security: Certificate validation succeeded using OCSP/CRL network: Created version ID: 1.0+ network: Created version ID: 1.0 network: Created version ID: 1.7.0.51 network: Created version ID: 1.7 network: Created version ID: 2.2.51 temp: new XMLParser with source: temp: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> ISY994 Administrative ConsoleUniversal Devices, Inc. Why not var=1-var as a toggle? Then you could bind the if conditional to a scene button being pressed.
-
While isy may be reliable, the plm is not. It appears that 2413s devices fail after two years and four months. Just out of warranty. If I could have previously set a scene button via isy to trigger an irrigation sequence preprogrammed via isy as a backup trigger to program control in isy, I would not have been without irrigation while waiting for a replacement plm. Instead I had to link each valve I wanted to run to a scene button when I was without plm.

Literally less than a foot away. They also confirm that my meter has seen the euid of the isy, but unfortunately when they tried to pair it, it wouldn't. How can I arrange for you to be on the line with me when I call PG&E? They said that their representatives can't dial out.

i am on the line with pg&e now and they say the device is not pairing, like two others they tried this week. this is how i have it now, and i see no pan either: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b5Ep ... G_0031.JPG

This is what is returned:

For people that have at least had the meter linked at one time, what does your installation look like in terms of distance to the meter, walls involved, etc? I've never been successful at getting it to even show up, though I haven't actually gone outside with the isy and stood with the antenna directly in front of the meter, though I have stuck it outside a door with a 20 foot line of sight to the meter and still been unsuccessful at seeing anything, though looking at my email, I see now that I was supposed to call PG&E when I was near the meter and the device around April 2013, so maybe unless I call them I won't see anything at all? not even a network that I can't join?

Hi Michel, It seems conceivable with smart meters on every house in california (and now many other states too) and people wanting to track power usage, and SEP1.1 support in the ZS, that people tracking power might also want to control z-wave devices like kwikset electronic locks and lighting (though all my lighting is actually insteon, my preferred preferred electronic deadbolt vendor only does z-wave). Is there any hope for handling z-wave in addition to sep1.1 communication with a smart meter in a single device? I just ordered the 994i ZS after reading the announcement about the end of life on my 99i... and also in the back of my head I was optimistic that one day firmware for the Nest thermostat would use the zigbee radio (TI CC2530 F256) on it as a "standard" thermostat and motion detection and whatever other sensors it could export, so maybe one day I'd be able to talk to it in automation rules in the 994i ZS. I realize I'm dreaming out oud, but I just wanted to dispute the "commercial venues" with two now common residential applications of zigbee and the desire to have a remotely controllable deadbolt.

Release 3.2.4 (Beta) Is Now Available

Can you also confirm that the timer function is working on the switch itself? In other words, press the on paddle once. The switch should go on for 15 minutes then shut down. Sorry for the delay, I originally read this on my phone and didn't want to reply from there and forgot to reply when I was back to a real computer... I can confirm that the timer function on the switch itself is *not* working... but I have not yet tried factory resetting the device and then re-adding it from scratch... I only factory reset and then used the restore device option in the admin console. As for the factory reset, I used the method in the wiki here: http://wiki.smarthome.com/index.php?tit ... t_Settings -
Release 3.2.4 (Beta) Is Now Available
nlaredo replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
I just installed 3.2.4 today. I have tested my switchlinc timers (v.40). They all required a factory reset at the switch + "restore device" in the admin console UI to start reading the countdown time as anything other than 0 or 255 (seemed to vary by switch, all were purchased at the same time). Previous version installed was 3.1.17. Update: The factory reset is absolutely required to get rid of the 0 or 255. I experimented with one of my switches that I hadn't yet fixed and only tried the "restore device" option. Only factory reset + restore device would work to get rid of either the 0 or 255 and/or some "Failed" message that would show. For factory reset, I was able to change LED brightness in the UI to be off, and then I could attempt the reset until the LED was back on after program mode was exited on the device. All of my switchlinc relay timers are showing 15 minutes in the options now.
