  1. My PLM is likely heading towards 2 years, but not exactly sure how long it's been in use. I've seen counts anywhere from 340 to well over 1000. I also recall (this is my 2nd PLM) the process, and every single device has to be updated... what a pita. So I think I might try a reset on the one I have first, see if that clears out dead links and brings things back. Before I try a replace. That will be painful, unless I kick everyone out the house for a few hours.
  2. My PLM won't give me a consistent count. it's like a random number generator. It's hard to get a count when motion's on Elk trip, and programs run etc, but even when the household are quiet it seems the thing can't give me the same count twice. I had a 6 button spare, so just added that. And again, no button pushes get registered. There's no traffic when ISY is at level 3 when any of the buttons are pushed, but when I query then ISY sees the state and updates. So is my PLM playing up? I just ordered a new one from Amazon, but worth trying a reset on the existing one before switching over would anyone think?
  3. I'm on a 995 Pro, 4.5.4 both ISY and Admin UI. Compare device/ISY is all good. The device isn't in any scenes yet so there are only 10 links, and they match. I'll try a PLM count once I have some time without family pushing buttons. Then consider a reset/restore of the PLM, to see how many links that clears out.
  4. Never had this happen before. I added a new 8 button keypad, all added just fine. The first five buttons work as expected - the last three illuminate at the switch but ISY doesn't see them as being switched On. All others report fine. I've removed and re-added the device twice, factory reset the device twice. Any ideas? I have a lot of devices, I will try and get a link count off the PLM once the family stop pushing buttons, but I know I'm in the 700-800+ range, or was the last time I checked. Could a PLM reset to clean out dead links help? Something else?
  5. That did the trick! Thanks guys. I re-added the thermostat and now show 3 nodes and can use Heat Ctl to turn the duct fan on and off. Thanks again.
  6. Will do Stu, see how that works. There is no group/ungroup Larryllix - that's the issue.
  7. My thermostat doesn't have three nodes, nor does it have a Group/Ungroup option on the right click menu. It's just a single node. ISY is on 4.5.1
  8. Thermostat only shows up when Status is examined, not Control, if that's what you meant Stu. I can't create a program on If Control Thermostat Heat, that's not available Or am I not following?
  9. Just tried Heat/Off as the switch, that won't work as when the thermostat reaches temp and switches off, it's still in Heat mode but not calling for heat. The fan duct will keep running. That's not going to cut it. I need to know when the unit is calling for heat...
  10. I have a 2441TH thermostat and was trying to use it being on/off to trigger a duct fan but am having trouble. I don't seem to have a CLIHCS response from the unit, so I can't trigger an action when it is calling for heat. Is this something only newer 2441TH's offer? I've had this unit for 3+ years would be my guess. Is there an easier way to kick the fan on/off would anyone suggest? I generally leave the thermostat in Heat mode, and then raise/lower the temp as needed, could I perhaps do that some other way? Turn it off when not needed, and switch on to Heat when needed? Any ideas welcomed. Thanks.
  11. thanks Eric. 36 KW and not all devices are powered? wow. that's a big house.
  12. I just came upon this thread as I've been looking for a whole house solution and I asked Generac if they had any pure sine units and the answer was no, but that their Synergy unit produced the cleanest power. So, true sine or not, the question is, is the Guardian's power 'good enough' and you say yes. That's great. Are there any other Generac Guardian (or Synergy) owners out there who can confirm their HA stuff works perfectly when the house is on backup power? Any other brands or guidance? The output from my Westinghouse portable is so bad any Insteon traffic on the network a) fails to do anything and makes all the Insteon lights flicker.
  13. It's a tricky problem I'm trying to solve - my Elk valve is triggered by ISY, and also set to auto-shut-off when the power is lost, but I don't have the circuit it is on covered by the generator. So, the power goes out, the water goes off. I can manually open the valve, but it's stiff and I'm wondering if there's a way I can keep it powered up even when most of the rest of the house is powerless. It works as it is, I'm just thinking of possible alternatives. I can't add that circuit to the transfer switch as I'm all out of more important circuits. I could switch to an interlock I suppose, then I can power up more than 10 circuits... Just thinking, thanks for the comments.
  14. Is there such a thing as an Insteon friendly UPS? I have an IO Linc controlling an ELK Water Shut-Off valve and would like to be able to UPS protect it, so the IOLinc would be on the battery-backed side of a UPS. Will I be able to get any signals through to it? Are there any brands/models of UPS that might work?
  15. So I made the change to a floating neutral on the generator and no effect, I still have psychotropic lighting when running on it. Guess I need to spend the money on a higher quality generator to avoid it. Thanks for the replies.
  16. I have a Westinghouse generator going to a Reliance Controls transfer switch. The Generator has a bonded neutral, and Reliance recommends I change that to a floating neutral as their transfer switch doesn't switch neutral. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure I understand floating vs bonded neutral well enough to really understand if that's my issue or not. What I see is any lighting load connected to any Insteon device flickers/flashes when Insteon traffic is on the wire. I hit a switch that's a controller for a scene, with every command sent over the wire, all the loads in the house flicker and flash, then stop when the traffic stops. It's freaky. Stu - I did unplug ISY last time, as that starting up was making me dizzy with all the flashing.
  17. Thanks Teken. Cleary I have neutral, else I really wouldn't have much of anything working, but I have been digging in to the floating vs bonded neutral thing and think I really need to switch that and then retry.
  18. So we lost power for 24 hours the other day and were running on portable generator for that time. All good, except...Any and all Insteon traffic causes every light connected to an Insteon switch to flicker/flash in tune with the traffic. I had to unplug the ISY as with all the programs I have set up, and the way it queries the network when it starts, it was causing a crazy light show in the house. Does anyone else have experience of this? Is my generator putting out rough power, not filtering it? I did learn since I need to switch my generator from a bonded neutral to floating due to the type of transfer switch I use, but would that improve the situation? Or do I just have to live with it? None of my links work when on generator power btw, all the noise on the line seems to stop signals getting acted on, though clearly the power lines are carrying the signals as I see the lights flashing. Advice welcome! Greg
  19. If you can get it to relay out via Comcast do let me know how... All I get are server timeouts and random errors. The UDI service has been great, until this weekend. I did say I would help figure out why I can't get it out via Office 365, but that slipped off my to-do list. Sorry Michel.
  20. It's still not working for me, 2.15pm PST Sunday. I'm pretty reliant upon email alerts to identify and react to issues so would appreciate any news if there is any.
  21. Do you need another PLM to hook to the PC running HomeSeer? I'm not familiar with HS so not sure what I need for that, I'm an ISY guy up to his point. It's beginning to look very much like I need to just run another wire for another outdoor speaker...
  22. I was really rather wanting to do it without adding yet another piece of hardware to the setup... Though I do have a pc running all the time on the network. So I might take a look at adding something, but preference would be to stay just with ISY to keep point of failure to a minimum.
  23. Could anyone familiar with this solution tell me if this is possible? I'd like to be able to interrupt a playing track/radio station etc and play a sound file, then resume the track/station. It's so I can hook my driveway alarm into the sound system rather than have yet another speaker, I'd like to use the existing Sonos system for that. Any ideas if I can do that?
  24. I solved my problem, by taking a slightly different route, and so posting back to close the loop. I want to have a scene with the sensor in it to switch the light on, else there will be a delay for the program execution. So the trick was to configure the sensor in two-node mode. Open and Closed. Then use the Open node only as the controller for the Pantry Lights scene. So whenever the door is opened, lights go on at 100%. No delay, and works even if ISY isn't there for some reason. Then I wrote a few programs like this to handle the door closing; If Control 'Kitchen / Pantry Door Sensor - Door Clo' is switched On And ( Status 'Kitchen / Kit Mud Rm 8 Way - B' is not Off Or Status 'Kitchen / Kit Dining 8 Way - B' is not Off Or Status 'Kitchen / Kit Hall 8 Way - B' is not Off ) Then Set 'Kitchen / Pantry Spots' 37% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I have three scenes/buttons/programs that check in this way. Then one program to turn the light off, if none of the scenes are On. If Control 'Kitchen / Pantry Door Sensor - Door Clo' is switched On And ( Status 'Kitchen / Kit Mud Rm 8 Way - B' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Mud Rm 8 Way - C' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Mud Rm 8 Way - D' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Hall 8 Way - B' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Hall 8 Way - C' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Hall 8 Way - D' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Dining 8 Way - B' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Dining 8 Way - C' is Off And Status 'Kitchen / Kit Dining 8 Way - D' is Off ) Then Set 'Kitchen / Pantry Spots' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') thanks for the ideas and comments, it helped me think about it differently and I got there in the end.
  25. I would appreciate some help here, this one is getting to me. Scenario is, we have some lighting inside the pantry as there are glass panels, and I want the light to be on when the door is open, or on when a particular scene is on too. When I switch the scene by opening the door, the lights come on, all good, when I then close the door the lights go off. The niggle is, I want them to stay on if the scene is still on. I tried to do this with a program that says, if the light is switched off, or the sensor is switched off (I've tried both), but the scene is still on, turn the light back on. What I see is the light goes off when the door is closed but button B on the keypads is on (meaning the scene is on), then 2 secs later (I put the delay in to try and ensure I didn't have traffic collisions, and have tried varying the delay with little success) the lights come back on, then go back off, then sometimes go on/off quickly, then typically stay off. the program is this; If Control 'Kitchen / Pantry Door Sensor' is switched Off And ( Status 'Kitchen / Kit Mud 8 Way - B' is not Off Or Status 'Kitchen / Kit Dining 8 Way - B' is not Off Or Status 'Kitchen / Kit Hall 8 Way - B' is not Off ) Then Wait 2 seconds Set 'Kitchen / Pantry Spots' 37% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') The traffic I see looks like this; (Sensor is 2B.03.CB, light (pantry spots in above program) is connected to 2A.28.15) Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:37 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 00 00 64 CF 11 00 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:37 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 00.00.64 CF 11 00 06 LTONRR (00) Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 2B.03.CB 00.00.01 CB 13 01 LTOFFRR(01) Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [std-Group ] 2B.03.CB-->Group=1, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [D2D EVENT ] Event [2B 3 CB 1] [DOF] [1] uom=0 prec=-1 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [ 2B 3 CB 1] DOF 1 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [D2D-CMP 00B0] CTL [2B 3 CB 1] DOF op=1 Event(val=1 uom=0 prec=-1) is Condition(val=0 uom=0 prec=-1) --> true Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [D2D-CMP 00AF] CTL [2B 3 CB 1] DOF op=1 Event(val=1 uom=0 prec=-1) is Condition(val=0 uom=0 prec=-1) --> true Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [D2D EVENT ] Event [2B 3 CB 1] [sT] [0] uom=0 prec=-1 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [ 2B 3 CB 1] ST 0 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [D2D EVENT ] Event [2A 28 15 1] [sT] [0] uom=0 prec=-1 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:49 PM : [ 2A 28 15 1] ST 0 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:50 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 2B.03.CB 00.00.01 CB 13 01 LTOFFRR(01) Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:50 PM : [std-Group ] 2B.03.CB-->Group=1, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Sat 06/14/2014 08:09:50 PM : [iNST-DUP ] Previous message ignored.
