  1. I had an older 8 way keypadlinc start to go bad. I decided to take the plastic keypad off and save it, and when I did I noticed there is a 6 pin female input that looks like a JTAG port of some kind (single connector, 2 rows of 3). Has anyone ever heard of what that port is for? Just curious.
  2. I have to admit to some rather sloppy procedure while installing some switches lately. I re-used some switched I had located elsewhere in my house, but failed to "remove" them correctly before I did. I have been getting some unexplained on/off behavior from one of the switches and I think it must be from left over programming from their prior use. So here is the question: Does "Restore Device" remove all links and in effect do a factory reset before restoring the links, or does it just restore the links? I ask because some of the devices are located in very hard to get to areas, and I would like to avoid doing a manual factory reset on these switches. If it does not do a factory reset, is there another way to do a factory reset remotely via ISY?? Thanks!
  3. Yes, I have this exact same issue, but not just with LED. Also with CFL. Both are dimmable versions, BTW. I found the issue was related to an old/faulty KPL. I replaced it with a newer version, and it works fine. I had to do that with 2 KPLs. Both of the 'bad' KPLs were VERY old, bought probably 2 years ago. (V35). I trashed them.
  4. I just checked and the online "brochure" says lamplincs still have local sense functionality. http://www.smarthome.com/2457D2/LampLin ... Pin/p.aspx I hope so and might get one in case they stop supporting it because I need (...well, my wife needs, therefore I need) to be able to turn the light on manually. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I know as of about 6 months ago, they had not updated the brochures. Maybe they still have not. But none of mine have the sense option working. If anyone else has one, please test it as see if sense works. Again, this is just for the new 2457D2. edit: found the thread. Yes, load sense has been removed from these devices. http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=8978
  5. Great idea. I cancelled and will try again if there is a sale. I can wait a few days to see. BTW, do you have a 2473S Outletlinc Switch? I am curious if they do the same. I would assume they do, since they also have load sense and are controllers. Thanks again!
  6. Thanks, PurdueGuy! I just ordered 2 of them and will let you know how they work for me. Thanks so much! I would never have realized the added feature of these outletlincs. I am just surprised they have not put this same functionality in the lamplinc modules. Blueman2 (a Georgia Tech Guy)
  7. Wow, that is what I have been looking for. Installing is not issue, since there are only 2 lamp plugs that I need to be able to turn the lamp on manually. But just to make sure I understand, when you turn the lamp on using the manual lamp switch, the OutletLinc sends a signal to your ISY immediately saying "i am on"? No query necessary? Thanks!!
  8. Yeah, I actually talked to Insteon about this. When the first released the newer lamplinc with DB and the switch on the side, it did have ability for load sense. In fact, they still do. But they had to turn it off internally due to some issue they would not disclose to me. So they are sense capable, but that has been turned off in the firmware and cannot be changed as far as I know.
  9. Old. 2856D2 Icon. But the newer ones had sense removed, which kills them for use in powering lamps. My wife demands to be able to turn on a lamp the old fashion way. I just wish there was a lamplinc that had sense turn on/off along with controller capability (based on the sense on/off). That would be killer.
  10. Cool! That is what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for the help!
  11. I have a lamplinc that is a responder only (not a controller) so does not send signals when it is on or off. But it does turn itself on or off when it senses a light being turned on or off. I want to keep an LED synched to the status of the lamp. I wrote a program that queries the LampLinc every 5 minutes to update the LED status. Is doing a query every 5 minutes going to damage my Lamplinc over time? If it kills it in 5 years, no worries. I will just buy a new one every 5 years. If it kills it in 5 weeks, then I worry. Anyone know?
  12. Thanks. Since it is possible to do the settings manually on the remote, I personally do not consider this a critical issue but appreciate your willingness to put in a fix if possible. I appreciate your efforts.
  13. Same here. And it does not change any settings on the mini-remote.
  14. I continue to have the exact same issues. I guess the new mini-remote firmware is not yet supported fully. So I just make all my changes (beep, 4 vs 8 buttons, etc) manually to the mini-remote, using ISY only for linking to other devices. Works fine that way.
  15. Yes, I think it can be done. Use a sensing switch (2476SS with sense). You would wire it so that the other 2 switches act as normal 3 ways (2 switches = 3 way, 3 switches = 4 way if I understand the standard terminology), sending power to the sense line of the 2476S. This will allow all 3 switches to turn the load on or off. It might however require you to sometimes flip the existing switches a couple times to get the desired effect. Wiring will be tricky, but it should work.
  16. Thanks for you time!! I think you are right, this is probably not a supported device firmware yet. How do I open a ticket? Is there a link to their site?
  17. Yes, both are 4.0.5
  18. I am right next to it (5 feet) and from a RF repeater. Still no joy. I just got this today, brand new from SmartHome. Perhaps this is a new firmware that ISY does not yet support? For now, I will just re-add using the 2444A2 mode, which at least gives it proper control and communication with the 4 scene buttons on the Mini Remote. I will adjust the Beep using the manual method.
  19. FYI, the back of the Mini Remote says: v1.4 1320

  22. I am not able to have any of the options on my Mini-remote (2342-2) work, such as Beep or LED control. Also, will not convert to 8 scene mode. I put the remote in linc mode (press set button 3 seconds, flashing green on and off continuously), the try to change an option. It appears to communicate, but no change. Everything else is working with the Mini Remote: it controls scenes and programs just fine. I added the Mini Remote using the "add RemoteLinc 2" option. It shows up with a different model number (2444A2) but I think that Insteon just changed the model number so that does not matter?? I tried removing it and re-adding it. I also tried doing 'query engine'. Nothing seems to help. Ideas? ISY 994IR, S/W Version 4.05
  23. Correct. RP2 and ISY Admin Console cannot both be talking to the M1XEP module on the ELK. I forget this too often and think there is something wrong, but exiting RP2 will solve the issue.
  24. The price seems about right ($99) to upgrade from 99i/IR to 994i/IR. What is the process? Do you mail me the new unit, I do the switch, and mail you back the old unit? With firmware upgrades ending for 99i, I wanted to upgrade. I also have z-wave in my house so am looking forward to that coming down the road.
  25. Well, I installed the updated Java and 3.3.9 ISY program. Cleared cache. Rebooted PC. I am able to run the Admin Console, but no matter what I do, there is no status shown for any device. Shut down and restarted console 5-6 times, rebooted 2 more times, but still no joy. Any idea why I can no longer see any device status? EDIT: OK, it appears to be related to the usage of Avast Anitvirus. When I disable Anitvirus, the device status seems to work fine. I will continue to test to make sure this is the problem. EDIT 2: OK, I was able to resolve this. If you use Avast, do the following: 1. right click the icon in your tray and open user interface 2. select Real Time Shields 3. select Web Shield 4. select Expert Settings 5. put checkmark in "Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only" 6. Hit OK I checked several times that this was the root cause by enabling and disabling this option in Avast. It correlated 100% with the ability to see device status in the ISY Admin Console. All is now well in the world.
