  1. Thanks. I have a few more Qs: I notice that the pro version supports strong encryption. Is this via hw or sw? My 99i couldn't handle strong at all! How far along is the zigbee/zwave support, i.e. is it complete for both hw&sw In other words does it work the same as the insteon devices and show up in the html and java apps? Can I upgrade from 99ir to 994 Pro? thanks!
  2. Hello, Aside from firmware updates, is there any reason to upgrade to 994? Is there a page that allows me to compare features/capabilities? thanks! -Ron
  3. ok, i will do this. i think i have tracked down the IR pressed msgs. they only seem to occur when i have my LED lights on... i tried again. both from w/in lan to public address, as well as from my 3g phone (outside of lan) log is attached.

  6. no, they have cable modem.
  7. yep! i have to say...that i have noticed this problem while remoting in from high speed connections e.g. my in-laws.
  8. i have predominantly seen it when i am in the office. i have a 4g connection, so maybe that is it. i dont have problems with other sites tho...
  9. Actually, i thought i cleared this up, i never get a 'not found'. I only get #2 The odd thing is that sometimes i *only* get the 'unsigned cert' error, in other words, i am connecting to ISY but it seems that the ISY times out. Is that what you meant by #1, if so, that is pretty rare (maybe once out every 30 times). I don't think that it is possible that my ISY CPU is maxed out, as i never have a problem connecting to it when i am on my lan. In addition, i typically only have 1 running task and none of my programs are that complex. When i am away, I have a timer program that every 15 minutes executes a few tasks. It turns off all lights (via a scene) and checks for any motion events and sends an email if any were detected. Motion counter is stored in int vars and there are 4 sensors.
  10. [it is at the default - i havent changed anything via telnet except log size (16m)] usually once i can remotely access it, i have no probs w/ admin, but today when i tried admin, i got xml parse error https://my-ip:443/desc lastly, I do believe that i currently have 'enable internet access' set.
  11. Tried it again and it opened up fine... Could it be that i need to increase time out value (via telnet)?
  12. I just tried it right now and i got the SSL cert error, clicked 'yes' and then got: This webpage is not available Google Chrome could not load the webpage because 69.143.181.204 took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection. Here are some suggestions: Reload this webpage later. Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using. Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again. If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox. Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.
  13. sorry, it doesnt display 404, it does as you say. in my defense, i was using 404 as shorthand for not found.
  14. 1) I did put the tape over it and i will let you know how that turns out. 2) i guess i am the dummy, i thought it had a sensor built in!
  15. i dont do anything to recover - that's why i was calling it sporadic, it comes and goes... thanks!
  16. I know, i was surprised, as that used to be the case, but, I have checked this over a period of months and it has never changed. Even when i reboot the router, i get the same IP!
  17. Sorry. Sometimes i can connect sometimes i can't. It can fail (404 error) and then 15 minutes later it works perfectly. i dont think it is my isp or my router, as i have changed both during the time i first noticed this. Is there any logging of failed connections? I never checked, because it seems like i am not getting through at all. In addition, i also was using dyndns and now am no longer do so, as i seem to have a static public address. i just tried hitting the public ip now (from inside my lan) and chrome reports: Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out. I then connect via lan ip and it does so immediately. HTH, Ron
  18. At one point he was talking about AC, which suggests summer, during which times 80%+ humidity can be quite realistic. But, you still may win the doll. Regarding furnace use of humidity settings, my honeywell prestige can handle heat and cooling requirements based (at least in part) on humidity. For heating season, however, control of humidity generally requires a humidifier. Which is why i mentioned 'a/c' sorry for the confusion.
  19. YOU WIN!
  20. You have two thermostats? And they differ only by 1%? Or, you have an ISY which reports 83 and the thermostat reports 84? But later, you report that the ISY reports the values "properly"? I am confused. two tstats and isy reports the values properly (i can see them in event viewer) and even tho i talked about a/c, i am referring to readings i am getting now - in the winter. clearly BOTH venstars are reporting the wrong values.
  21. Mon 01/28/2013 01:26:26 PM : [ IR] 012A Press son of a gun, it works! btw, i see a ton of these and no one is pressing anything anywhere near it... hmmm, since i am not using IR, can i turn it off?
  22. I have no prob on my lan. I sometimes have prob on wan. any ideas as to why that might be? please note, that i do not believe this is a router issue. I switched out my router to the comcast cable modem (was on fios b4) and i still see the same thing. i have the router set to port forward on 443 (ssl). thanks in advance. -Ron
  23. Michel- The humidity readings from venstar seem to be quite wrong. One reads 83% and the other 84%! Sorry i wasn't more clear, ISY reports the values properly (just looked at event viewer). It is my understanding that i would be able to set the a/c to run based on humidity. This is what my new heat pump thermostat would allow. I haven't purchased it yet and that is why i was asking about tstats. Theirs (carrier) allows for this functionality but (of course) cannot be controlled by insteon. -Ron p.s. it's a shame that i can't copy a single event from the viewer, or else i would have pasted it here...
  24. Michel- I already have the venstar and it is my understanding that the INSTEON tstat doesnt work that well w/ isy99i (based on amazon reviews) I can't see spending another $600 ($400 isy Z + $200 thermostat), so i guess i will just stick w/ what i have. Seeing as to how my venstar (v.93) tsats dont report humidity properly, I sent an email to their support team to see if they would replace them. Do you have any plans for supporting venstar humidity controls via isy? thanks for the info! -Ron
  25. Just curious, does such a list exist? Every time i search, i am shocked by the paucity of decent hits. thanks!
